Given the history of HBG, you're probably right.

I was hoping the new CEO might be able to persuade HBG to form an independant board and at the very least, persuade them to start supporting the football in a more positive way.

This maybe coming from a sense of ignorant hope (because no one really knows what goes on in the minds of these people) but history has shown there have been some good leaders that have been able to foster important change.

Maybe this is the best bet considering the current structure and position of HBG?

Putting my tinfoil hat on, we have 19 teams confirmed for 2028. There will definitely be a 20th team. There is a huge push for another Queensland team. A second New Zealand team is also a strong option, but there is no chance of the competition going to more than 20 teams.

How can we fit both of those expansion clubs in? Simple, let the weakest existing Sydney club die. If we consider this hypothetical perspective, then PVL has very little reason to work hard for us.

If shaun is working on it, it won't be overnight. You forget the mental state of these guys. They kicked out one of the best administrators in the game, if not the best. Seemingly just for power.

Not just that, but never even respected fans enough to give a reason. One that was truthful and defensible enough not to get retracted.
 
Just my own opinion - regardless of results I don't think you will see any infighting from HBG, no moving of head coach, CEO, or board members until 2030 - and then who knows.
 
The only thing that will turn us around is a millionaire swooping in, buying HBG out and then consistently putting money into the place and providing third party. Souths were in the same position in the 90’s and early 00’s. They were a laughing stock. Then Maximus came along and they have never looked back. If it wasn’t for him, they’d still be a joke. Just like we will be until a sympathetic millionaire takes pity on us.
