Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

- Auckland Blues (Rugby) and NSW Blues (NRL)

- Richmond Tigers (AFL) and Wests Tigers (NRL)

These compete.
Why arent they relevant?
Mainly, because when they ( the above 2 examples) were established they were not in competing markets. The media revolution has made the market smaller hence now they are in competition for share!

A quick google tells me that Trademark laws have been around since 1905. Balmain Tigers were founded in 1908.

If we look at something more recent, the Auckland Blues were founded in 1996 to launch the super rugby competition. They are competing in the same market as the NSW Blues.

They are throwing their toys out of the cot because their game is dying. They should be scared, not of the PNG Chiefs, but the NZ Warriors. If anything, their panic draws more people's attention to the NRL.
The problem there is that the ‘Canterbury Rugby Union ‘ commenced in the 1880s and has been known as the Blues for decades The Auckland Blues are a Franchise of the same organisation

I personally dont think the Waikato Chiefs compete with the PNG chiefs at all. There is no super rugby competition in PNG. Chiefs fans in NZ arent going to just start following the PNG chiefs because of the name. And how many members do the Waikato chiefs have in Australia?

Sport is global. If they had a decent brand they wouldn't be having a sook.

No, you put forward your opinion and then told me that the Mortimers and the Hughes family are somehow comparable. That proves you have no idea what you’re talking about.
Oh, really?
Let's re-wind.
Here's your original post....
I don't understand why any club would want to build a team around two families. It makes absolutely no sense.

We have three Fainus (possibly four if Manase gets signed) and maybe three Mays in the squad.

If they don't get their way, they'll hold the club to ransom. If they leave, we'll be absolutely screwed.

This is the stupidest recruitment strategy and logic I've ever seen from this club.
Here's my original answer.....
"Never heard of the Mortimer and Hughes brothers at Canterbury?
Seemed to work pretty good."

Where did I make a comparison on skill sets?
You specifically asked why any club would bother to base their team on a pair of brothers and I gave you Canterbury, and the Mortimer and Hughes brothers, as a factual (not opinion based) answer as a team that did.
So ... looks like you're the one here who has no idea what they're talking about. 🙄🤣
PS You seem to have a habit of putting people down or making derogatory statements regarding their knowledge when answering posts of late.
I'm unsure if this is based on a fragile ego, insecurity or low self-esteem... but it is unnecessary.

I replied that they don't.

Just signed another junior. Ashton Whyte. Redcliffe Dolphins junior.

Unsure what position

Courier Mail article -Walters Cup schoolboy Team of the Season

UNSUNG HERO AWARD

Ashton Whyte (Redcliffe SHS)

Whyte made the Sunshine Coast representative side but was injured at the state titles which robbed him of some matches.

But when he played for Redcliffe, it was time to make up for lost time. He was able to cover lock and hooker where he was as tough as an old boot.

Whtye had a high ethic.

Good pick up for WTs.

They will upgrade the facility, just like Leichhardt is being upgraded now, and then Campbelltown after that.

Direct your question to Brookswest not me. He / she brought this up.

Chill man. Saw your post saying they "have to play at Lidcombe" and just wanted to know why, you said it.
Your answer doesnt tell me why they have to. Either one of Campbelltown or Leichhardt will be available at any given time. They could also work with the NRL to get them playing before the NRL team as much as possible, and they could also try and tie in with Wests Harbour and play out of the Centre of Excellence. I dont see how the have to play out of Lidcombe other than some old fossils hanging on to past glory.

What's your point?

I don't think it is personal and I wouldn't let it impact how you feel about him or yourself. You are a good poster on the forum. I certainly enjoy reading your posts and respect your knowledge. I hope this provides some clarity.

Mate I appreciate those kind words and right back at ya. Im not personally bothered by him all that much. Ive just noticed recently he is overreacting to a number of posters on the forum. We all have a moments, but his seems widespread at the moment.
