2027 half back and five eigth

OK, I get the sentiment about AD, but where is the moral courage? This is the real rot that we have been facing at the club over the last 15 years and AD at 6 is just an extension of that rot.

True leadership and moral courage mean doing the right thing when it’s hard, sacrificing personal vanity for the collective good, and standing by your teammates when the pressure is on. When Benji told Adam "I'm a Leader" Doueihi to put his ego aside and pull on the No. 13 jersey to steady a bleeding team, he showed exactly what he was made of. He didn’t dig in. He walked out.

Refusing to play against Canberra because the position didn't fit his self-proclaimed vision of being a "dominant half" is the absolute definition of a failure of character. It screams that personal brand matters more than the club.

Now, we are heading into 2027, and the whisper camp is already building the narrative that he should just slide back into the No. 6 jersey because of his "experience."

Handing him the reins at five-eighth isn't just a selection error it would be a moral failure by both Benji and the club. What kind of message does that send to Javon Andrews, a young bloke who has absolutely bided his time, ripped in at Cup Level winning Playyers Player at the club and being named the KoE 5/8th of the year. What does it say to Josh Schuster, who showed grit to swallow his pride, take a lower-tier lifeline, and drop 33kg to prove he wants to be a first-grader?

If we want to prove that the "Sleeping Giant" myth isn't just a corporate shield for mediocrity, they need the moral courage to draw a line in the sand.

Ego doesn't earn the 6. Entitlement doesn't earn the 6. You don't get to abandon the ship when it's sinking and then demand to steer it when the weather clears. If Doueihi wants back in first grade, he can face the music, buy into the defensive grind at 13, or watch the next generation leave him behind from the reserve grade bench.

Does this club finally have the backbone to demand accountability, or are we going to let player entitlement dictate our future yet again?

Doueihi to 6 is a joke!
Andrews at 6 for me,, He was “available” to play against Canberra and wants to play for Tigers,, NSW KOE cup 5/8 of the year, double the try assists and line break assists of any other half…

No one on here wants to acknowledge that from Madden.
Also Skelton scored 3 tries when Douelhi was out for 4 weeks.
But not glamorous enough. Just results.
But I agree, he is a genuine back-up.
And we do need a half with resilience. That's the grey area of Latu, resilience?
Look I don't think Jock is a world beater but with our best team on the field he is a demonstrably better fit for the team.

I think he has to start the year at half out of what we have.

Latu 7 Javon 6 AD 19
I hope so. Unfortunately the question is Latu's ability to keep on the field.

I'm really hoping he can string some games together so they can get fully behind giving him priority at 7.

It's something only time will tell, but right now you couldn't go 100% in on him.

Either way, I agree that Madden does the job that can get results, so am fine with him as an option.

Not "no one", rather, a few and far between group that saw Jock as our best halfback option whilst probably in agreement with many of those seeing him as meh.

I think the Douehi / Averillo combo is best both are " game breakers "
Madden is competent but nothing likely to win games
Latu is the other option at halfback but is an ideal utility capable of covering a few positions .With injuries he will get a few starts in the half's
What we need is depth meaning when one goes down his replacement is nearly as good . The top clubs have this but we certainly didn't this year

Madden is our best option at 7 currently and I’d be surprised if he doesn’t start there in Vegas.

It was obvious that AD didn’t like Luai and the perceived favouritism he was getting from the club… a major reason why he spat the dummy…. Can AD and the club overcome the fallout from his dummy spit?
Yes, I think they can. Madden at 7 and Doueihi at 6 is our best pairing.

Latu and Andrews should continue developing and fill in when required as like-for-like replacements. Assuming Latu is being groomed as a 7, he’s got plenty of work to do before he’s ready for that role.

There’s no point rushing the young blokes when we have a proven combination that gives us the best chance of success.

May as well not have centres and second rowers and wingers cause we will just have another year of them barging the ball up rather be given room and put in gaps.
Don’t think I’ll bother watching if we have another year of Madden douhei.

Well then it’s up to the pups to displace them.
So far, Latu and Andrews are worse performed at NRL level.
Im confident 2027 is the year that they’ll do it, but they should not just be gifted the positions when they haven’t earned them.
