‘It’s the truth’: compelling new WT doco

Not sure this is a good idea. WT are already a laughing stock.

Making out we’re a very professional club and opening doors are only a good idea when you’re successful.

Imagine watching the same at the rorters. Turning up in lambos to training, looking in the mirror at your new ridiculously white fake teeth and making paper aeroplanes out of brown paper bags.

I don't think any of the current NRL clubs are considered laughing stocks - despite results on the field. Considering all the resources available to the Bronco's their current situation demonstrates how quickly things can go wrong even for what has been considered a very strong club. Teams are definitely rated based on talent and results. I think insights into what happens in any club would be of interest to most fans.

Really good of the club working with the NRL and Fox on this.

Tbia will show how hard the club is working to drag ourselves out of the mire.

Hoping we jag a few wins and it paints us in a light that proves attractive to players and fans about our future

Looking forward to the scene of Justin doing his hair.

Just will become the ultimate troll if he conducts one of his on-screen interviews whilst getting a haircut

No not really - didn't we employ a barber during the offseason. This will be Luigi from Leichhardt time to shine.

How can anyone possibly be complaining about increased access to the inner-workings of the club, in any format? The off-season doco we produced a few years back under Cleary was very good, if comparatively short, and this can only be of high interest and information to league fans in general.

I've watched the Tottenham series; there are several others on NFL and Premier League teams, all make for compelling viewing when you actually get to see what footballers and club officials really go through day-to-day.

Anyone on here making snide comments - there are several of you - pull your heads in. You ask for more transparency, more innovation, more access; club goes ahead and takes this novel step amongst all league clubs, and all you can come up with is mockery. You must really wonder how much of a compulsive cynic you are.

I wonder if it also keeps News Ltd off our backs for a while, given that Steve Crawley's equally slimy brother didn't mind heaping on us last year and I haven't heard from him in 2021.

Some fans don't really care about this off-field stuff any more, and wonder when our near on decade finals-less sojourn might end.

I can understand what you are saying and I can understand passionate fans being critical of on field performances and matters relating to such issues as I quite often am as a passionate fan that wants nothing more than success on the field.

However, when outsiders and members of the media are critical of my club I will generally be one of the first to jump to the defense of the club.

You hear it quite often, and I think it is credited to Jack Gibson, "that it all starts at the front office," or words to that effect.

You have to give the management team some credit even if you can't give it to the team that takes the field.

This club is turning it all around and building to be a real power house in the not too distant future. There is no doubt we are getting smarter and becoming one of the innovators and leaders in the NRL.

Our Centre of Excellence is coming, our finances and ledger balance is on the improve, salary cap looking good, and if recent events are anything to go by, will not be squandered as they have been in the past.

As far as innovation goes we have led the way with a player loan that was the first of its kind in the NRL and now this bare all video series that some people are fearful of, but I think that overall will be a big win for us.

There is no doubt we are building something great here.

I get that things are headed the right way, and that's good. The QE2 doesn't turn on a dime.

But at the end of the day we have spent a long time, and what would be considered an eternity in the modern NRL era, in the wilderness and as a result the puff pieces and off field media begins to wear thin.

I guess all I am trying to say is that I don't think you can't blame fans for not being enthused about it. I have been a Wests/Balmain fan since 1989, and I have seen my team play in the finals 4 times since 1989, and I would say I was too young to remember 1990, so three times committed to memory. Magpies fans of my vintage (born in the mid 80's,) would have only seen their club play finals five times.

It's been a long time between drinks and we just want to see the results where they matter most.

I can understand 100% what you are saying and know exactly how you feel, don't think for one moment that I was having a crack a you.

This is entirely awesome. I really admire the way the Tigers seem to be run off the field. I just wish the on-field would catch up honestly.

What bugs me is this is for Fox but it is Fox that every day make stories up about us to sell themselves. Its like them and DT have an agenda against us and would think they would be the last media outfit we would let in…

You can make an argument that by providing Fox with real factual content, it gives them less opportunity or inclination to simply make stuff up?

Given it's a Kayo exclusive first, I can only imagine Fox will sell this hard when it is ready.

Is this the club admitting that it is little more that a sideshow to the NRL? I'd be much more impressed by making the top four.

Making a documentary does not preclude you from making the Top 4.

I think they're doing a wonderful job of doing nothing. Nothing in regards to football success anyway. Surely there's more pressing issues than this stuff.

So recruiting blokes like Laurie, Utoikamanu, Simpkin, Blore, Simpkins, Tuilagi ..attempting to re-balance the playing roster moving on Reynolds, Mbye.. not paying overs to keep Aloiai getting Ofahengaue with Donkey's contributing to his salary etc is doing nothing to improve on field success ..OK..

Yeah, we've seen a huge improvement on field.

That wasn't the your statement..the above is doing something ..

He's lucky he has a fan base with no expectations of success.

Doubt that's true of any fan base..all have expectations..

Expectations of success I said. Quite a few on here have none going by their comments. But I havnt done a survey .

In what way do fans have none..?

No point mate, he offers no support for his statements.

Back to back polls a few years ago where a majority voted that missing the 8 was a successful year.
You know i could go on....

Or ,
Just an alternate way of thinking , work with me here for a sec,
You may have unrealistic expectations on a squad that has major problems , and are still getting ironed out . And that it’s not that people have low Expectations , but rather, they’re being objective , and when your level headed , and not emotional , you can better analyse to find what exactly , specifically needs to be improved . As saying “you guys suck and are the worst “ , has basically never worked ever , and
Nearly always gets dismissed and ignored . So basically doing the exact opposite of what you wanted it to .
Just an idea .

If this was a one off year, I'd agree. But I'm talking about nearly a decade of this club producing squads that perform like that. I feel a lot of our fans just accept that.
I have an expectation that the club should not have an 8 year finals drought. I don't think that's s high expectation.

Yep . But this isn’t the same , as hard as that is to accept.
What you’re watching is a core of kids no older than the 150 game half , who’s only 26 . Especially in the key positions . Sure there’s old blokes there in the squad , but really there’s 1 guy over 30.
All the stuff previous , really isn’t applicable. We aren’t watching a core , where the youngest person was brooks , which was as recent as last yr . But losing sux I agree . But I don’t feel bad about competing , with a team that’s been together for years .

Has anyone actually seen the doco or the article related to it? Looking through this thread there is a heap of speculation, but I can't find anyone who has seen the article or doco. Have I missed something? I need to see it/them before I can give an informed response.

Yea , I posted on this earlier . I think the biggest issue , is , we went from a development club , to the bulldogs , which meant we had no chance at recruiting decent players , to realising we are a development club , but now instead of being further along the timeline we are near the start . Irritating stuff.

Well I guess they could just do nothing...

When you watch how we played on Monday and then comment that we 'played ok'. Well ,I think that person is happy with us just turning up each week because last monday was garbage.

Again, your taking the team. I'm talking the club. Year after year of assembling awful teams but the general consensus is we're going great.
How many years do we miss the 8 till you think, hang on, maybe they're not doing a good job? 10? 15? How long?

Yea , I posted on this earlier . I think the biggest issue , is , we went from a development club , to the bulldogs , which meant we had no chance at recruiting decent players , to realising we are a development club , but now instead of being further along the timeline we are near the start . Irritating stuff.

Very irritating indeed, they just seem clueless to me.

Has anyone actually seen the doco or the article related to it? Looking through this thread there is a heap of speculation, but I can't find anyone who has seen the article or doco. Have I missed something? I need to see it/them before I can give an informed response.

Geo has seen it...........

Geo= "No …it is actually very well put together …

Along the lines of Sunderland til I die doco if anyone has seen that…

From all perspective…"
