The professionalism I do question is the support staff. Are they not adding commentary to the games proceedings? It may be possible that they were told to leave it all to Madge or they were uncomfortable being themselves in front of the camera but it's not a great look when an assistant coach appears to be on his phone for most of the game.

This irked me so much.

They appeared absolutely useless, especially the muppet on the phone.

It didn’t look great but we don’t know what he was doing on the phone. He could have been running an app collecting statistics on some aspect of the game.

Sportsbet or seek.com

Could have been, but we don’t know. Everyone is just making stuff up without any actual knowledge of what he was doing.

Fair, but surely there's better technology for that.... and at some point you have to watch what is ACTUALLY happening on the field.

I dunno, the people around Madge just don't fill me with confidence.

Depends that his role is, I doubt it, but it is completely plausible that his ingame role is monitoring GPS information to access fatigue levels of players. Now I doubt he would be doing that on a phone but there are roles that would have is focus off what is actually happening on the field.

Dunno, I use my smart phone for everything these days. They are very powerful devices. But yeah I agree the people around Madge don't fill me with confidence either. I think that's where changes need to be made.

I enjoyed it.
Hopefully we get a bit more behind the scenes stuff with the players in future episodes.

The best thing about these shows are that they largely reinforce everyone's previously held perceptions.

It just goes to show what we all know that the playing group is mentally fragile.. no amount of coaching can in-still that into individuals..

No matter how talented or skilful… Mentality comes from within.. no words can unlock it.. you can become resilient but only do it yourself.

It’s a generational thing IMO.. everyone gets a ribbon..

Of course all of you would already know this, and i must also add here that some of you on this forum truly are brilliant game analyst but i just want to explain this in a little different way.

Just as there are necessary ingredients needed to make a dish and call it a dish, a team, would also need it's necessary ingredients for us to call it a real team, and so, let us say, satisfy the hunger of their fans.

Firstly, and i emphasise SOMETIMES when a player like Haas, Fifita, etc, or our own Stefano (thankfully we now have one too) who are seemingly running at 100kmh at the try line, there will be no amount of mental ability or toughness that can stop them from scoring that try.

But this ingredient of physical size and strength alone will never be enough, of course you would also need all of the other ingredients to bring out the wonderful flavours of the team, just like the flavours of a lasagna.

Yes, Lasagna, you know the world famous Italian dish,
For many years now the person who has been receiving the Trophy for the **best lasagna in the NRL** is "**Nonna**" Bellamy (aka, bellyache) closely followed by "**Mamma**" Robinson, and "**Pappa**" Bennett,

Our own "**Signore**" Madge, gave us a hint by saying "i need more men" i knew what he meant saying was, i need the missing ingredients.

And since our **Signore** Madge has found those missing ingredients we will soon see the perfecto lasagna (Team) that even **Nonna** Bellyache would be proud of.

Assistants aren't there to enjoy the game, they're there to work. They'd be concentrating on things in the back play, off the ball and wide of the ruck. They're not just watching who makes the tackles or runs the ball, they've got their eyes on who isn't and why. Then they'll watch it all over again and again later on video.

I’m not saying that isn’t true … Because it clearly is , but if it’s a generational thing , why is it only affecting Places like the tigers . The storm , they don’t recruit the best players all the time , like Nico Hynes is a prime example of this . He just wanted it more . Do we search for the exceptions not the rule ? If a whole generation are fragile , how do you find resilience ? Do we just recruit a little lower on the natural talent but A plus on the mental aptitude ?

This has to be What Adam Hartigan, Kimmorley , Tim Sheens and Madge would be having conversations about .
**For me , I’d look to America . Thier aptitude testing is another level . And the prima Donna egos floating around the NRL , are nothing compared to an NFL locker room . “The Patriots way” has to be something that’s looked into , as they do exactly what the storm do . Identify talented players , but ones with a real hard edge .**
How they do that , I have NO idea . But if we could tap into that knowledge stream , even just a little bit , it would go a long way to get us out this mess I reckon .

As a Patriots fan ive been talking about mentality on this forum for a number of years now.

Its an art to recruit mentality over pure talent. You still need talent but mentality is what wins championships.

We have about 5 players out of our 30 who may have it, the rest are lacking.

As Bill Belichick is quoted saying

“Talent sets the floor, character sets the ceiling” .

Every recruit should be looked at in this light.

TPJ for instance is not the right type of player. he has the talent so he has the floor. Trouble is it is widely regarded that he hasnt achieved his ceiling. he never will if he doesnt have the character.

Did Curtis Scott remind you of someone?
Not to be out of left field. Just in regards to a player at the Patriots.
Did he seem recruited or scouted outside of their usual ethos?

I wonder what the purpose of this program really is.

Ratings - yes.
Curiosity value - yes
Rawness - yes
Depth of what's actually happening in the mechanics of the club - maybe less so

I'm waiting to see each of the other episodes till the end.
There has to be a common purpose to this expose, something that the producers are aiming at and that our club wants as well.
Bring it on.

Brand exposure, pique interest in new or non-aligned supporters, humanise the club, get a little more control over the public narrative.

My guesses.

I think people realise, no matter where Tigers finish on the table, there is constant interest in what Tigers are doing. My guess is Fox believes that a Tigers doco is probably as interesting to non-Tigers fans than any other club, maybe even because Tigers aren't successful, it won't just be a constant success-a-thon like following the Melbourne Storm around.

Also I doubt they could go in-box with Craig Bellamy, it would be a non-stop expletive and stress experience.

In the box with Bellamy would make great TV though. It would have to start after 9pm I'd imagine.

I was actually surprised they aired this at 7:30pm without bleeping the expletives.

It's Foxtel, the rules are different.
You can swear all day , every day on Foxtel as long as you have the correct warning and rating before the show starts.
