MANLY are set for mass player clean-out with 14 players reportedly told they are not wanted for next season.
Channel Nine is reporting that Sea Eagles coach Geoff Toovey has been told that he won’t be required next season as well as 14 players, including Feleti Mateo, Willie Mason, Josh Starling and Justin Horo.
NRL360 host Paul Kent said on Tuesday night that Manly has offered Toovey a lowball offer for a job away from the first grade team and he has refused to take it, as per his contract.
“We’ve known for some weeks that he was going to get tapped on the shoulder,” Kent said.
“What’s going on behind the scenes is … they’ve lowballed him.
“This is not a Manly press release and they will deny it but it will happen.
“Manly need a clean-out. “

Horo has been linked with a moved to England, while Mateo and Luke Burgess have been offered to rival clubs.
“Mateo came cheaply because the Warriors are still paying some of his contract but this may surprise you, he’s on over $500,000,” Kent said.
“For a player to be taking up that much of your salary cap you need to be getting your money’s worth.”
Matt Ballin is also unwanted despite recently re-signing with the club on a two-year deal.
Last week, Luke Burgess revealed he is toying with the idea of a move to Japanese rugby, while Dunamis Lui is understood to have a deal on the table from St George Illawarra.
