$2 Million war cry

Even if Balmain go under and can't pay their way, they should still live on in the Wests Tigers. Both the clubs that formed the WT in the first place should always be included in the Wests Tigers. Those traditions and history should always be remembered and respected by past, present and future WT fans.

Heard a lot of rhetoric and vitriol about how it was going to be up, it's been a few months and still no details…

Is this Fighting Fund up and running yet?

this does contribute to it, bought mine its a beauty http://tigers.org.au/index.php/steeden-heritage-edition-balmain-tigers-football/

While its a lost cause, its nice to see people can get something in return for their donation. Still though, 70 bucks for a football is pretty steep.

I'm still interested to know what happens to all the money when the fight is over. Whose pocket will it fall into?

I have bad news You had raised the money but Benny thought it was for him and he used it for renos at his house

Good news , Benny is really ,really sorry

Anybody coming on here saying they **'were'** a Balmain supporter and now don't care was **NEVER** a Balmain supporter.
I embrace, and rejoice, in our reincarnation with the Maggies but will not forget my (our) past.
How anyone can throw away their devotion and love for a team mystifies me,

Wasn't aimed at you, Happy.
I know you are an old Maggie - we all love our new team , no need for some to spew on our past because they don't like a few people involved in it.

There's nothing more arrogant and offensive then telling somebody who grew up loving a team that they were never a supporter, just because their views differ from yours. As a Magpie whose argued countless times with supporters who never accepted the JV and been told that, there's nothing that boils your blood more, its a slap in the face.

I can see where guys like Macca, CB and any other ex-Balmain fan are coming from when they say they don't really care either way. Its cos in 2014, Balmain are irrelevant, as are the Magpies. As long as WT's are around, people rightly couldn't care less whats going on behind the scenes. The only ones who do are the ones still living in the past.

To tell someone they weren't ever a fan is seriously the lowest of low blows in any debate.

Not trying to shoot your post down in flames but I "WERE"/was a Balmain supporter and I dont "CARE" for those who are Balmain(or Wests) fossils who havent embraced the joint venture but post on here regularly anyhow. The past is what gives you all your lifelong vivid memories which will be cherished forever such as Elias(the player definitely not the businessman :imp: )Sirro,Roachy or Tommy,Boyd and Dorahy for the Ex magpies. The best thing we can do now and in the future for the legacy of Balmain and Wests magpies is to have a very strong Wests Tigers so we must grow and make the best decisions for this club moving forwards not decided by clouded people with alliance/agendas.Whether it be for an old Balmain fan Forgoing Leichhardt for 6 Anz and 6 Campbelltown or for an old Magpie to accept the clubs base/training facilities should be located in the inner west due to better corporate support and accessibility for city centric players.

I agree with your comments.Having said that It is refreshing to see the whole"I dont care anymore cause the past is the past and Im a Wests Tiger now" vibe certainly seems to be on the rise in this forum which can only mean a more unison football club which will lead to better results on and off the field for the Wests Tigers. :sign: :sign:

Think you misunderstood ,Gunner.
I love the Wests Tigers but still love Balmain.
Some have stated they were Balmain supporters and now don't care what happens to them.
How can anybody disassociate themselves from something that was in their heart?
I am not living in the past as long as there is still a Balmain involved - same as the old Magpies supporters embrace the new team while remembering their origins.
Arrogant? Offensive?
If you love your team you always love your team.
I don't need to apologise to you, or anyone, for my dedication.

I know it wasn't aimed at me , but you can't turn back time CK

It isn't 1989 its 2014 and the glory days for both clubs are well and truly dead and buried

Remember the wonderful days in your heart , but leave them in the past

Its killing the WT's

I was a Balmain fan & have many fond memories of walking down to the ground from my Nan's place in Lillyfield on a Sunday arvo to watch the lads play. Good luck to them trying to raise the cash but I reckon the $2 mil could be better used if donated to the Wests Tigers facilities fund!

Balmain is in my heart - and in the past.
I will never forget , but I am not stupid enough to think there is any chance of them coming back in a hurry.
I cheer for, and suffer for (like the rest of us), the WestsTigers.
I am not into killing something I love.

Sorry to say this CK , but Wests and Balmain are dead for all intentions purposes already and have been for a long while

I beg to differ. I have kinda gone the other way. I embraced the JV at first and over past few years my love for WT has died. It isn't completely gone but it's getting there.

I have rekindled my love of the Magpies, and next year I will attend more Magpies RMC matches than I will WT NRL matches.

I used to pride myself on never missing a WT game and this year I probably went to 3 or 4 games and watched 6 on TV. I feel like I am watching something I love die slowly of cancer. That's how I see the WT.

I understand the Magpies will never be in the NRL again but the bunch of people running the Magpies Fanatics are awesome, we meet up at games, produce merchandise, we are having an Xmas party at Campbelltown this year. This is what WT should be like, but it's not even close.
