Wests Tigers is pleased to announce the signing of Wigan Warriors utility Mark Flanagan and Penrith forward Junior Moors for 2010.

Englishman Flanagan can play half, five-eighth and lock and will fill the utility role left vacant by John Morris. Wests Tigers have an option on his services for 2011.

“Mark is a raw talent. There is plenty of improvement in him and hopefully under Tim Sheens, we can bring that out,’’ said Wests Tigers Recruitment Manager Warren McDonnell.

“He is a tough no-nonsense player with a strong work ethic.”

Twenty-two-year-old Flanagan made his first grade for Wigan this year after joining the Warriors in 2007 from Bradford Bulls. A goal-kicker, Flanagan played against the Australian Schoolboys in 2006.

His father, Terry, represented Great Britain four times between 1983 and 1984.

Moors heads to Concord Oval looking for a fresh start after an injury ravaged season in 2009.

A second-rower/prop, 23-year-old Moors played 24 first grade games for the Panthers.Wests Tigers have an option on his services for 2011.

“Junior is a former Australian schoolboys forward who was struck down with a broken ankle in Penrith’s first trial game this year,’’ said McDonnell.

“He didn’t start playing again until half way through the season. Junior is looking forward to working under Tim Sheens and will push hard for a first grade front row position.’’

moors has only ever been a back rower, why the hell are we grooming him for a front row position???

 because it's Sheens…..

Moors is a big unit think Harrison only bigger.....lets see what comes of it.....

Flanagan would be more of a punt......

Hmm more fringe first graders.

I guess there isnt a lot out on the market and Moors is a big fella so maybe he could play prop.

I wouldve liked if we actually signed someone for once who is at the top of their game, not someone who "has potential, has a lot of improvement left in him, has a great future, is raw, has had an injury ravaged season" etc.

But anyway, I hope these guys turn out to be great signings and I hope Moors in particular has a big season.

I was about to post something along similar lines.
Totaly agree but.We had our chances to snare a seasoned big bopper but all them that are any good have been snapped up for 2010.
Oh well Moors could be the missing piece

Here's what the Panthers have on Junior Moors….
Date of Birth : 30 July, 1986
Height : 193 cm
Weight : 110 kg
Position : Second Row/Lock

Why do we present him as a prop/second row and the Panthers have him as a Second Row/Lock??? 😕

2 more Reserve Graders…..lol

everyone expects players to be at there peak potential at 21-23 years of age, hes 23 still developing, he is far from a bad signing and will gove us much needed size on the bench

Im pretty open minded about the signing of Moors. It looks like he's signed as a front rower and he must be looking for that transition otherwise he wouldnt have signed. And at 110kg, it should be a pretty straight forward move for him. He's a talented kid and i'd expect him tp put a lot of pressure on Shirnack and Payten.

At 23 years of age it is possible for this guy to improve. It's not unheard of when players change clubs and are given a fresh start. We've seen it happen before so let's wait and see how he looks next season before writing the poor bloke off. I reckon the entire forward pack will improve under Folkes as he brings a wealth of experience in performance training and could be just the tonic to harden the Tigers pack up a bit more.

Finally some sense…....We got the forwards guru in Folkes.....he could be good for Moors...

Moors stoodout for Windsor v Pies....made Laurie look second rate......

Plus he's come back from a bad leg injury, and it always takes time for big guys to recover from that, so thats probably why he didnt crack first grade this year. I could be wrong, but i thought he was getting some good time in the NRL last year and was well regarded before he broke his leg. Who knows, maybe he would have really established himself this year if he didnt have bad luck, and now he gets the chance to establish himself with us.

People expect way too much sometimes. Maybe we should all look at other teams to balance things. If u look past the top 2 or 3 props in each team, i think you'll find most cover the position with just solid hard performers, not world beaters. We now have Galloway, Gibbs, Payten, Shirnack and Moors, along with the young Fifita.

Now lets look at the Dogs. They are close to winning the comp, and lets look at there front row stocks shall we? They have Hannant and Hodgson, both very good….....but nothing else. Hickey wouldnt even make our 17.

With the right team selection, the Tigers will be top 4 next year.

I can't say I know a huge amount about either of them, but they will be wearing Tigers colours so I will be cheering them on.

Lose Payne, Galea, Trimarchi and Morris for Moors, Schirnacks and Flanagan. More room in the salary cap and some young blood. Hopefully Folkes can really help in this area.
