My prediction for 2 teams who slide backwards in season 2025 are
Roosters , will slide backwards the most
Penrith , Cleary injury will see them go from top 2 to bottom 2 of the 8

I think the 2025 competition might be a surprising one.

2 sides that 'slide' against expectation- Manly & the Broncos.

Manly is an injury away from ruin. If DCE goes down at all, at 48 years of age, they are done. If Turbo or Jake go down- they will struggle.

Broncos are a timebomb IMO. Their halves are older than Zeus. Madge will rub Haas & Walsh the wrong way, and then the toxic Mam situation has to play out. This is a club in need of a clear out.

Roosters, I believe, will surprise people. Dolphins too. I had Souths coming back, but those injuries look ugly before the season starts.

Disagree re Broncos. Such a talented roster. Think Madge will get the best out of them and if Hass and Walsh stay on the field they are in for a big year. The meltdown will happen next year or the year after when the players are sick of him.

Don't like to put too much stock into the trials.

It's hard to go past the roosters though.
Despite them being consistent winners for so long.
They've lost a lot of talent and haven't replaced, at all, with anywhere near the same quality.
They seem like a club that really lacks any culture.
Just mercenary bag chasers.
With the heart being Teddy, Radley and Collins enough to keep them in the 8? I don't see it....

I think Parra are on the slide too and have been for some time. Moses won't be able to carry that team this year and Lomax may take a while to fit in and find his feet.

Love to see South's continue to fail.
Jamie Humphrey's looks like a class player.
I think he deserves better...

I think this year we may see a shake up and see a few of the better teams back in the middle of the pack.

- How will Penrith go?
- can Dogs continue their rise? I think so.
- and can the dark horse, West's Tigers finally push for the 8? I'm hopeful.

100% on the Roosters.

Top 4 Storm, Penrith, Sharks probably Broncos.

Maybe Newcastle, Manly, Warriors and Dogs,

Everyone else

Roosters, Souths.

I think you're right about Humphries, I played with his old man. They could have an elite backline. Forwards are the weak spot for the Bunnies.

roosters ; plenty will hold their pattern and only jump 1, 2 +/- . Brisbane ,not because of Magde ,but the kids just don't understand him. lol . Cronulla, their due to dirty their nest/or not

not a good start … but early days admittedly …

Did you pick the Tigers to get the spoon? If not, do so immediately 👍😎…

The top teams atm
Raiders ,Panthers ,Manly , Broncos ,Storm
I see the Knights and Dogs as very solid
That's my top 7
Hoping Tigers fighting with Dragons and Dolphins and Sharks are in the fight for 8th
Rest a bad year with Roosters and Eels as spoon contenders
Ps Bellamy to win another title this year

Did you mean slide up the ladder? The best coached sides are, Storm, Panthers, Broncos, Sea Eagles. Only a bad run of injuries will see them not in the top 4.

So you’re saying 20/40 that the comp is over after one round. Those 4 certainly were impressive and whilst Bellamy / Cleary are at the top of the tree, I personally never really rated Madge and Seibold as top coaches. I reckon you and I could get results from both those teams, fully fit.
Let’s hope there’s some other twists and turns throughout the year, whether that involves the Tigers, or not. Remember the Dogs run last year as dark horses.
If, at season end , you are correct , I will personally acknowledge your foresight and wisdom.

Hal, for what it’s worth I formed that opinion during the trials. Sure, it’s a lopsided comp with 3rd party deals dictating which clubs continue to play finals footy. The same team wins 4 GFs, just as the same team wins 3 spoons. It’s a real problem for the NRL. All their quirky rule changes don’t seem to make much difference compared to the 3rd party deals.
I have high regard for your judgement but surely you can see the coaching difference in the rnd 1 games of Tigers vs Broncos or Manly?
We had “the best spine in the comp” (minus Api) and it didn’t fire. Why?
Our coach lost that game just as other coaches win games.
Benji was more upset at our loss than Luai was. Benji was fuming and walked out of the post game presser.

Your logic is sound and I see your points but maybe I don’t want to concede too soon. Let’s hope there’s some excitement to come !

Broncos success relies on the fitness of 2 x 35+ year old halves.

Manly's success relies on DCE & Turbo staying fit.

It's a long season. Seibold doesn't exactly have the sharpest resume & Madge does have the ability to overcook.

But yeah, you're probably right. Could be the GF right there.
