Farah….Lawrence.....Ellis.....Galloway.....Tuiaki......as good as anoyne in the comp in their respected positions.

Young blokes like Lui,Dwyer,Fifita.

Emerging stars like Ayshford,Moltzen and Ryan.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we have all those things this year?

Our squad for next year excites me. (Lack of an extra prop aside)

But I still have doubts over their ability to win when it counts, and make the step up from a 9th to 11th ranked team to a 1st to 8th ranked team. They've yet to prove they can turn all those 1 and 2 point losses into the wins needed to make that jump. Unfortunately, it's not the sort of jump I think can be made with under 20s players who play in a no defence comp. It's the sort of thing that's going to require an experienced old hand to lead. Whether blokes like Farah or Marshall can become those leaders, or whether we need to look outside the club, like the Warriors did with Wiki and Price remains to be seen.

Not to sound negative, but I can't comprehend how anyone can be excited about 2010 after we just missed out on the finals for the 4th consecutive season. I've always given them a pass for 2006 because of the horrendous injury toll but the last three years have more or less been carbon copies of each other. We lost a number of games by 1 or 2 points in each of those seasons which, in the end, cost us a finals spot. There's nothing to make me believe next year will be any different so what is there to be excited about?

I'm going to go into 2010 expecting NOTHING. This team has been the ultimate tease for the last three years and I'm not going to let myself get fooled again. The only thing that will make me excited is when we clinch a finals spot. I remember back in 2005 how fantastic it felt knowing we'd be in the finals and anything short of that from now on ain't worth getting excited about.

Surely we can't just miss out again. If they paid money to the team that finishes 9th each year, the club would have plenty to go around. I agree though. Safest to go in expecting nothing.

I have to disagree with you there; leaving the playing roster aside, I think the team finally learnt some important lessons about how to win games in the second half of that season.

The thing that killed me about this year (amongst many things) was losing that first game to Souths. Leading by 12 points and with less than 15 to go and 15 metres out there was only one option - take a field goal - but there never looked like trying that. Ever since that game Robbie has been on the lookout for the import field goal at every opportunity. And beyond that, I think they are now a much better team in the tight contests - I cite the Manly game for my case.

Look its all conjecture but there really does seem to be a lot to look forward to for next year.

And on the subject of personnel, Ayshford is going to make a heck of a difference to us next year; he is star on the rise. And whoever it may be, Moltzen or Lui, we will have a decent half for the full year.

That Souths game hurt at the time, but it hurts so much more now. We miss the 8 by 1 point and we let two points slip though our fingers there.

Isn't that what we were all saying 12 months ago when looking forward to the 2009 season?

12 months ago we still had cronk. Hopefully this year we don't get the same selection blunders.
