2010 team

im telling you guys this again as i have been before. taumatas contract has him signed to be a halfback

I cant imagine a contract ever saying a player will play in a certain position, maybe, and its a big maybe, an elite player could demand such a thing, but not taumata. What would be more believable is that he's probably had discussions with Sheens about playing halfback and was signed with that in mind, but i doubt very much something is actually written about it in his contract.

Moltzen needs to toughen up and bulk up to become a quality long term halfback..

Moltzen would be one of the bigger halfbacks running around wouldnt he? I know he's not big, but as far as halfbacks go, he almost looks too big already. He'll end up around Trent Barrett's size if he tries to bulk up. That would be good if he was to play his best position of 5/8, but because we have Benji he wont be playing 6, so i'd prefer Tim to concentrate on maintaining his current size and speed.

U do know that Moltzen played the last month of the NRL with a fractured collarbone??

Getting back to the halves situation, is Benji contracted to the end of 2010 or 2011?

Taumata (2 year contract) is great insurance to have there should Benji eventually go the rugby union.

Maybe one day:

6\. Taumata
7\. Moltzen

Never say never….

Sutely Moltz has earned a go at the 7 with his performances this year, where we looked so dangerous with an attacking weapon on both sides.

Tomato should get the 14 I reckon.

That way he could sub in as 6/7 or 9.

All you blokes are nutty… Benji will have the No.6 on his back but don't kid yourselves he will be running the show again... And I don't see why anyone would want any different.
Whoever dons the No.7 (i'm hoping Moltz gets first crack, don't think Lui is quite ready) will be playing the 5/8 role...

same situation as tuqiri where if he sign he will be offered a certain position. but whos to say it wont be when he comes off the bench he wont be playing halfback

I don't know any team that will sub their half-back.

For the record, I don't mind who plays half-back - Lui, Moltzen, Taumata - let the best man win the no. 7 jersey.

Sorry girls , but i just dont think Moltzen is tough enough for the halfback roll, he doesn't lke getting tackled for a start, and im not sure if he has the capabilities to organize the forwards around the park ,i like my halfbacks to be in the thick of it, like orford ,pearce, kimorley, cronk ,thurston, Prince, these guys dont take a backward step.I think sheens is right ,Moltzen would make a better fullback in time,

Who does like getting tackled?

I think he has the capabilities to organize the pack and imo he does get in the thick of it.

cant think of the rest :unamused:

Sorry , but i dont like any of your halfback suggestions,,
Moltzen doesn't like getting tackled, cant kick, and i cant see him organizing the forwards around the park..

Taumata has been sacked by 4 leading clubs ,so i can't see him seeing out his contract with us..

Lui,, very lazy,,can't tackle, great one minute walkabout the next.

we won 5 games from 6 i think it was with Tim at Half back.. he is an orgnaiser.. he can tackle and if he doesnt get tackeld as long as he is running rings around them i dont care

i think u will be surprised with Taumata this year mate, his attitude with the current players has already changed, new friends and new club,, he will be awsome

Come on ,it's the most important position and player in the side, we have overlooked the signing of a decent first grade experienced half..look at the top 8 half backs ,any one of them could play for AUSTRALIA and have.

what would you guys think of mullaney trialling on the wing for ryan?

yeah mate , i can see him making his debut sometime this year, hopefully at his right position..

nup.

he's a ball playing fullback with plenty of talent in that position. definitely not a winger.

let's not stall his progress by chucking him on the wing.

if it meant by playing wing he would have a spot in the team..
or
would u rather let his skills develop more and wait for his opportunity

Develop his skills and wait for his opportunity..playing wing when your not a winger can sometimes damage your career. its not always an easy position to play…plus i think he's too small for wing..

thats very true..
though most players that are standouts in nyc and nsw cup usually find their way to centre/wing eventually..
just like ayshford and lawrence..both originally played in the halves. Although if we had:

1\. moltzen
6\. benji
7\. arana
14\. lui.

i wouldnt want to remove any of them for mullaney so i would rather have him on the wing than his talents go to waste like they did with gallant
