Like them or not, Melbourne have been the most consistently good team all year, winning 13 straight games at one stage. Regardless of the previous years' salary cap wrought, Slater and Smith have played exceptionally well for a number of years now. I, for one, don't begrudge them their awards this year.

Lol @ all those bemoaning Melbournes sucess this year.

They played most of the season last year for nothing, then lost a heap of players and have responded by taking the MP and scooping the pool at the awards night. Good on them….

geez some of you guyz are bitter. I understand theres disappointment in the air, but imagine if the shoe was on the other foot and Benji had won, and Storm supporters were saying some of the stuff being said about Slater

The Storm as a whole deserve a great amount of credit for the way they have come back in such a short space of time
