2011 Draw Announced

What's the deal with the Dragons being on the road for the first four weeks and six of the first seven? And the Storm playing at home in eight of their first eleven games, and then being on the road for four games in a row from rounds 15-19? This draw seems to have been made by amateurs!

Scratch that. Just read an article where it says the Dragons requested to have most of their early games away from home due to renovations. But that doesn't explain the favouritism the Storm have received.

Hi everyone

I just hope we don't get the Monday Night game in the first round again next year.

We wait so long for the season to start, and then have to wait another three days!!

Tigergran

Having a look at the other games for the weekend i feel it will be on the monday sadly.

Friday

Brisbane Broncos vs. North Queensland Cowboys
Sydney Roosters vs. South Sydney Rabbitohs

Saturday

Penrith Panthers vs. Newcastle Knights
Warriors vs. Parramatta Eels
Canberra Raiders vs. Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks

Sunday

Melbourne Storm vs. Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles
Gold Coast Titans vs. St George-Illawarra Dragons

Monday

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs vs. Wests Tigers

We will definetly see the queensland and sydney derbies on friday and they will show the premiers on channel 9 as well meaning sunday.

i think the only possible change for us would be the chance that melbourne manly could be on a monday instead but by the looks of things we'll play on monday

I think that Roosters vs Rabbits will be the Sunday arvo Channel 9 match like it was this year.
Either Titans vs Dragons or Manly vs Melbourne the other Friday night.
But I agree that we will be the Monday night match.. ahh well at leat we almost always win on a monday.
Either way its a great first round if you ask me.

We'll be on Friday

Friday
Dogs/Tigers
Broncos/Cowboys

Saturday
Warriors/Eels
Panthers/Knights
Raiders/Sharks

Sunday
Storm/Sea Eagles
Roosters/Rabbitohs

Monday
Titans/Dragons

ah we better not be on monday night again! thatd be three yrs in a row!! y would they put the most entertaining team on the forgotten monday night game?? not to mention it would drastically reduce the potential crowd… at least its not our home game

apart from the american football i think just every other major sporting competition around the world, whether it is union, league, football etc play each other twice in a regular season. its just takes will and some foresight perhaps .. oops i forgot we have gallop and co.

In a perfect world sure it would be ideal to have a home & away system but its just not realistic.
For 1.The players association are already trying to reduce the rounds from 26 to 24 because of player fatigue especially to rep players
2.**We have a finals series.If it went for 32 rounds we would still be going into november. soccer don't have a final series & even though they play up to 5 different comps they have squads of 30 players,endless amounts of money & most importantly they don't have to compete with other sports.**
3.The four nations would not end until January so no off season for the top players.
Sorry Blackpearl it just would not work

Besides that im satisfied with our draw.Prediction 38pts minor prems :sign:

Theres 16 teams and therefore only 30 rounds needed to play home and away against every team twice.
The trial match period ( a three week block next year going from the weekends Feb 10/11/12 thru to feb 25/26 ) usually begins **four weeks** before the commencement of the season….4 weeks trial period plus 26 weeks of the season and you have your 30 rounds reqd to play everyone twice..
It works quite easily.

Booooommmmmm

Agree with Ink and Pearl on this one…

No reason why each side can't play each other twice....

No reason why each side can't play each other twice.... it becomes EXTREMELY unfair when teams play muppet sides twice and have the potential to really up their for and against... how many times has for and against decided a top 4 and 8 spot?

I couldn't imagine the NRL would have us on Monday night 3 years running, could they?

Dogs/Tigers games are generally free-to-air, the only game that wasn't televised on 9 for memory was the game in '08 where we flogged them by 50, remember that Dogs fans :wink:

Except Australia. None of the AFL, NRL or the new super dooper 15 Rugby play each other twice.

I don't support a longer season where each teams plays each other twice. We'd have no players left come round 30.

I'm with Tigergran about not having a Monday night game in round 1\. i hate having till wait till Monday night.

Re Melbourne having a lot of home games at the front end of the year (I'm not convinced that is an advantage as they will play so many away games at the end of the year) - I'm thinking it was done so that the NRL will go head to head with the new rugby franchise in the 15's Rugby. I guess they think by having the strom play there nearly every week they will not lose any storm fans to rugby (it's all rugby to those mexicans).

Will be interesting to see what day we have the home game vs the Broncos (Easter and ANZAC weekend)…they'll probably have the Storm on the Fri arvo again like last year (no AFL on Good Friday), Roosters v Drags will be the Mon (ANZAC Day) arvo, and Dogs v Souths is generally the Monday night (Easter Monday...which is also ANZAC day...anyone else confused?)

Seriously , who gives a toss what the draw is. , the Wests Tigers have always been a team up against it every year , playing at 4-5 home grounds. IMO , this season has been the best ever , and all I say is bring it on , our gypsies have adapted to all the barriers they are up against …...Bring on the trials

It's only...It is 119 days till the 1st trial Alad.....
Which is 3 months, 27 Days....OR
* 10,281,600 seconds
* 171,360 minutes
* 2856 hours
* 17 weeks

Any idea when the Tigers will allocate the home games?

Probably easy enough for us to work out

Some teams always play at the same grounds

EG Tigers Vs Canberra is usually @ Cambo, Tigers V Melb iS usually @ Lillyfield Rectangle

That's a reasonable draw for the 2011 season. Wherever they play, the tigers will have a shot at anything. Oh, in the 2011 season we will win the premiership!

I think it may be possible the Wests Tigers will announce the exact scheduling for the first 5 rounds today as well at their scheduled press conference for 1:30
