In light of the Moltzen injured thread which raised questions and mixed opinions on who should be the first string half back for 2011, lets figure this out once & for all….

As said in mentioned thread, Lui gets the first crack due to injury but whats next?
- Will he retain his position after Molt'z is healed?
- Will he be demoted?
- Will Moltz' be moved to a utility role or center position?
- Is Moltz' even ready after having so long off the field?

I know this has been discussed in length in the past but with the new issues arising,
I'm asking for your opinion & a poll vote.

These guys are both important to WT, so what do you think Sheens would do or ultimately what would YOU do in a predicament like this?

PERSONALLY, Lui looks a long term prospect for the #7 jersey. Whereas Moltzen could slot in anywhere from 1 to 7 -
Lui played great @ the back end of the '10 season & I believe he's all talent & could develop into the perfect #7
So for me, Lui gets my vote.

:deadhorse:

from a development perspective, Lui is 2 years behind Moltzen. Moltzen offers alot of speed and attack and as supporters, we sometimes confuse this zip zip stuff for what is more important for the TEAM.

The biggest area we need to improve on in attack is doing the simple things better. Completions & Resets are 2 areas we are terrible at and this is an opportunity for Robert Lui to take some ownership and make his own responsibility.

Roberts biggest challenge is growing to the stage where he is prepared to over-rule Robbie & Benji. Only then will we see the genuine talent that Robert offers for the whole team…

Moltzen moves to Right centre, Blake to wing. Can you imagine the attacking force in our backline then?

We need a stronger right flank and I think Moltz might be the answer. Speed, good support, great vision, and a good defender.

Plus, I think Blake would suit the wing position much more since he doesn't seem to fond of the whole passing thing.

Beau knows 17.

What options do we have if both are unavailable?

We had this situation last year and I liked the Benji / Lawrence trial. Then there is some out there options like Benji / Ayshford; Miller / Benji; Robbie / Marshall…

Not many teams have 2 NRL Standard Halfbacks!

It looks like Lui has the inside running now that Moltzen won't be running for the next few weeks, and I'm fine with that. Personally I liked the way Lui finished the season and his defence was improving through the backend of the season too, he was having to make twice as many tackles as Benji.

Moltzen while having the ability to play halfback, and play it well also offers excellent utility value as we all know. I think he would go well in the centres or otherwise off the bench to find his feet.

Noone is talking about moltz at fullback .
… Iknow i know, moltz there is a no no blah blah blah. but we are talking about sheens...
he had him there at the start of season 2010, i think he will go back there after he heal's.
Lui to Stay at 7\. Moltz at 1.
... its not the way id want it to be, but its the way i THINK its going to be....

IMO Moltz isn't built enough for fullback. Brown and McKinnon are better options whilst available.

Moltzen needs to be halfback or off the bench. I wouldn't like to move Lui when he has only just started to find his feet. That could destabilise all the work that has already been done.

If both out I would favour giving Miller a go…...or even Mullaney. Jake deserves a start somewhere!

Anyone who thinks Rob Lui Won't or shouldn't be our 7 in 2011 Best go back and watch our last game!! Rob was a joy to watch as the season progressed and Benj and Robbie let him get his hands on the ball and do his Job, Lets not forget he had his fair share of time out of FG last year also. IMHO With the way our 6, 7 & 9 rotate somewhat during the game, I think Moltz would slot in perfectly off the bench, And should be used at 6,7 or 9 To rest Benj and the Robbies' Throughout the year. He is a big guy, And with a tad more filling out and defense work, I think he could also handle backrow easily… In saying that, for now... I'd like to see him in the Centres and push Ayshford to the wing (He is stronger than B.Ryan and just as if not faster... I remember him Keeping Carney off to score in The final). Everyone says put Moltz at 7 Making reference to the 09 winning streak, But from most of what I remember, He spent alot of time playing a little wider at 2nd Reciever and taking advantage of what Benj and Robbie opened up in front of him (regardless of the number on his back) Further proof he is best as a support player not an organiser. I think he will prove to be a SUPER SUB in time, I honestly think Brown was better at FB than Moltz... He has bigger stones!! Moltz is Big, Fast and Handy in a variety of spots, I would work toward having him on the bench with 3 forwards, And rotating him with Benj and the Robbies Keeping them all in the game and all reasonably fresh. But as for the arguement... Lui or Moltz, Lui HANDS DOWN!!!

I actually think he has the perfect build for fullback. He just needs to play a little tougher and he could be a sensational number one.

i think he wont succeed as a centre like some have mentioned because he doesnt have the physical presence a centre needs. Even Daniela who is half his size has a physical toughness about him. If Moltzen can develope that, then he can right his own ticket, be it as a fullback, centre, 5/8 or a halfback.

Benjis first choice is Lui, I think I remember him saying that Lui was a freak? Good enough for me!. I Can see something special in Rob at HB. Moltz more as a utility player, Could really see Moltz come on and spark things up, Gee it;s a good headache to have.

love both of them there both awesome players
with ayshford doesnt sheens think hes a future 13? or can he become a winger man this kid is growing fast…....we got a lot of depth this year you beauty.....

THIS JUST IN… MOLTZEN ISN'T INJURED.
SO BACK TO THIS PREDICAMENT.

WHO'S PLAYING WHERE?

LUI #7
MOLTZEN #17

MY GUESS.

Moltzen is a very good player and wouldn't let the team down at half. Lui started last season of slowly (which is understandable trying to fit in) but was on fire at the end of the season thus as the incumbent Lui should get first shot at '7' agree with Lui at 7 and Moltzen off the bench for impact. It will be interesting to see what Sheens view is and I hope we get a peek at what that might be at the Campbelltown game.
