Just under 2 weeks to go now.

Who are you looking out for? Who do you think will go well….and not so well?

Theyre predicting we may be lucky to win 10 gold....smallest team weve had for some time with funding continually slashed year after year in most sports.

Whats going on with Steve Hooker??
The guy just cant do it anymore....is it his run up/approach thats causing him to pull out at the last second, has he suddenly come down with a bad case of acrophobia?

Go the Aussies.

Really hoping we can go 1-2 in the mens long jump

Anna Meares hopefully gets gold for the Aussies CQ girl

Hooker made 5.72m in Brisbane and people thought he was turning the corner last month , but hear he recorded no jumps last week again

Probably about 12 Golds I reckon The cyclist and the rowers will get a few as will the yachties

Wok was talking to someone last week about Hooker , he reckons they should get him to jump out of an airplane a few times  :unamused:

Looking forward to watching Sally Pearson ( not sure if I've spelt her surname right ) & James Magnusson continuing his dominance in the 100M freestyle.Hooker seems to be suffering something similar to when golfers get the yips.

Don't forget the swimmers, guys! Although the Americans have really upped the ante in recent years, we should still snag a few Golds there with Rice, Magnusson, Jones and maybe the relay teams. Also in the diving Matthew Mitchem and Melissa Wu are possibilities for Gold.

Our yachties, shooters, cyclists, equestrians, walkers and rowers always do well. Of course, Pearson in the hurdles and hopefully Hooker will get his mojo back in time. And there is always the unexpected Gold Medal - Who will it be this year?

Really looking forward to the Games, they always get me motivated to get off the couch and do some exercise! Well, for a little while anyway

If the egos we saw in pearsons race today, ((Pearsons sooky 'taking my bat n goin home routine' and that of the winner as well))….are a sign of whats to come in London, I wont be watching much of it

I'm looking forward to the 3d highlight special every day.

Anna Meares has way way too few followers on twitter for such a champion.

I'll be following as much as I can, I love the Olympics.

Sprinters and hurdlers are always showponying - I wouldn't miss watching it because of a few prima donnas. There will still be plenty of great moments you won't want to miss, Ink.

Shame that Anna's pet event isn't on the Olympic program

Matt Goss a chance in the road race if the team can disrupt the Brits with Cavendish

That's very true. He was looking the goods in the sprints in the TDF

Looking forward to it. I think we'll take about 15 golds, with the lion share coming in the velodrome and the pool. I think we may jag a couple in track and field and maybe another one here or there. Looking forward to seeing if Steve Hooker gets his head together, I imagine in pole vaulting there are a lot of aspects of the jump that are purely instinctual and he's obviously worrying about them on the way in.

Also looking forward to seeing Usain Bolt go around again, the guys is a dead set freak.

I haven't gotten into the Olympics at all so far. Once it starts, hopefully that will change. My favourites are always the guys who come from nowhere to win an event, rather than the Thorpes and what not. It must be because I'm a Wests Tigers fan that I love the underdog…

I'm looking forward to Melissa Wu hopefully getting gold in the diving. she's a local in my area and I've been following her on facebook ever since i saw her at the local sporto one night. Weird to think how young she still is.

Also looking forward to the swimming.. magnussen and roberts v phelps, mens relay, all the golden girls of swimming etc

pearson in the hurdles will be a great watch. also hopefully hooker can get his stuff sorted out

anna mears in the cycling will be awesome too. i love the velodrome at the olympics. probably my favourite olympic sport to watch

as has been said, we'll pick up a couple of random golds, probably in equestrian/judo/shooting/something random like that

also what are peoples thoughts on the tennis at the olympics? As in how high do you think the players rate an olympic gold on their achievements list? i was having this argument a few months ago with some mates, they were all saying that the tennis players would prefer grand slam titles. surely a gold medal would be at least equal if not better than a grand slam win?

Anyone good enough to win an Olympic gold would be absolutely rolling in cash from all the other tournaments. You would imagine that having an Olympic gold would be pretty special, especially considering they only come around every 4 years, compared to having 4 grand slam events every year…

I'm not a massive fan of the Olympics, although I do enjoy watching a few events.

Would like to see Steve Hooker pull it together and get on the podium, and even though I hate basketball I'd like to see the ladies win the gold again.

Will be watching the football with keen interest.

P.S. Anyone read the article today about the men's basketball team flying business class to London, and the ladies flying economy class? The girls are more successful than the blokes, how ordinary is that?!

Yeah I saw that, CB - pretty bloody ordinary alright! Same thing happened with the Japanese soccer teams as well apparently, and their women are one of the Gold Medal favourites! I guess sexism is alive and well, even in 2012.

x 2 .
outstanding achievement
stand stall and proud.
I do enjoy watching the track and field events very much.
what an honour it would be to represent your country.
all you can do is your best.
if you are able to win a medal, than that is a massive bonus.
to be able to be selected and compete in the olympics, words could not describe.

Anyone see the road race late last night? Thought it was fascinating - the tactics were awesome by O'Grady. The poms had a red hot collection of riders who were riding as a team with the aim of getting Cavendich the gold medal. O'grady organised a few hot riders…all from different countries...and they rode as a team creating a breakaway group that was never caught. It was a big up yours to the poms - I loved it!
