2013 Halfback.

As much as I think Miller should be the halfback next year … is it so stupid to suggest we maybe move Farah there?

He has a good running game, decent kicking game, takes the line on and usually slots in to first/second/third receiver anyway on most of the 4th or 5th plays. I was watching some footage of him from 2008-2010 when he was in his best form, and the way he played out of hooker then is totally different to now.

Maybe instead of going after a new halfback we look around for hookers? Someone like a Matt Ballin, Andrew McCullough type of player. On the Footy Show last night they were talking about the success of English players in the NRL in the last few years - Ellis, Burgess, Graham... All forwards. Andrew Johns said he'd be keen to see some of their halves/hookers try their efforts out here. Maybe we look to the UK for a hooker?

I would keep Benji at 6 and put Anasta into lock next year. Heighno can move to second row, the bench or Super League.

Not Andrew McCullough please… He can't hold onto the pill to save himself. SKD had better hands when he first started!

oh dear

I would really like to see miller given at least 6 games in a row to see if he can show any signs of potential / growth… moltzen will probably improve at fullback for us but id prefer giving tedesco another shot when he recovers for 2013,.. i think humble would be great player to have on the bench ...which leaves the question were will moltzen be next year ? will he be at the club ? if he leaves what will we have to talk about ? hard hitting questions i know...but does anyone know the answer ??? :astonished:

So would Miller but I don't think that is going to happen. Tedesco has 2 more years to go so he will be there.
We have signed Anasta and this is the last year for Miller Moltzen and Humble so at least one maybe two of those guys will go.

No idea about contracts or availability, but Mitchell Pearce would be well suited at Wests.

Organising halfback with a kicking game to take that responsibility away from Benji.

Knowing The way sheens works , it will be Miller , Humble or Moltzen ,

My bet would be Moltzen once Tedesco is back

Whats this love affair with you wanting Anasta at half.
IT WILL NOT HAPPEN !!! but then again Sheens has come up with some head scratching positional playes in the past . :unamused:

Because of the 2011 semi final Tomcat

I want someone who will get the ball in a crucial moment and make the right decision , not have a brainsnap and cost us a possible premiership

Fair enough but you can only have him there if we make the Semis ok ?

Thats not the only reason , we do need some control sometimes When we start blowing teams off the paddock I swear Benji and Robbie start foaming at the mouth and their eyes start rolling and they try for a low percentage play (that looks good but lacks logic) and we let the opposition back into the game

Anasta will play the high percentage play and keep our foot on the throat of the opposition Thats what the Storm do and it works

It also adds to the pressure on the other side to have them trying to score from 80 metres out which will probably create more chances in the long run with better field position

I still think Miller is the obvious choice. He is now deemed good enough to play NYC SOO at 7, yet is not given a proper go so far at WT?

I hope Miller is in the long term plans because half-backs are rare and if the Anasta project fails or lasts 18 months where to then if Miller is gone? Anasta at 7 is a step backwards when we should be looking forwards. I think Anasta at 13.

Media reports seemed to suggest we signed Anasta to play in the halves.

So at present a Marshall/Anasta combo looks likely.

I think Miller should be the long term 7\. Moltzen was given a few games to prove himself and miller deserves the same 😛ray:

Happy to keep Humble on at this stage, he seems to be getting better with the way the Tigers play and certainly takes the line on and is good in defence, imo.

Jacob Miller has already played 5 games at NRL level. That may or may not be enough of a chance but from what I've heard he's hardly been knocking on the door for selection this year based on his performances in the NYC. You should earn a promotion to NRL based on performances not because it's your turn.

I'm not saying that Miller can't be our halfback but throwing someone who's in moderate form into the top grade isn't a great outcome for the player or the team.

Initial SOO halfback for the NYC, so must be doing something right.

Not given a really good shot at the first grade spot as yet. Maybe at the end of this year he will be ready. In the meantime he may get a shot every now and then to gain first grade experience. He seems to be a very good half back and as everybody knows (or should) great halfbacks are born, they a not created.
