2013 WT State Cup Coach

Yeah I went to many BRET games Ink. Don't believe it invalidates my participation in the discussion.

Seems to be the same people time and again who have to mention the Wests/Balmain thing.
I don't know what the reasons were for Fletch not being appointed I am just happy to see someone come in who won't be influenced either way. Best of Luck to Joe in 2013.

Look at your OP mate…would you like to expand on this??

i am assuming this was done to appease both sides of the JV.

Youve already been asked about it in the thread.

Of course Im not inferring that all people that went to BRET games are perpetuating this rumour, it is a common link of those that are though, its only a handfull....its convenient for them, it masks disappointment

For a long time many were told to 'accept it', 'cop it on the chin'....'move on'.....seems some of these same people need to take their own advice...not so much here but elsewhere online

Well we all know that Fletch was the right man for the job, with Wests dropping back to JB Cup there was a big push to oust Fletch (Balmain) and replace him with his assistant. No secret that Epifania had the support from the Wests side and Fletch from the Balmain side and I believe that a compromise was made to have neither and hence Thomas got the gig.

Like i have said no problem with Joe Thomas getting the job but common sense would have picked the best candidate but common sense didn't prevail now did it.

Still haven't seen anyhing official yet so is it confirmed at all?

Thought an announcement would have been forthcoming if appointment had been confirmed.

All this about Thomas may be just talk.

Flash has always been credible and I don't see why now would be any different.

No use spruiking the club before Xmas, better to wait and build interst as the season draws nearer.

I have heard that this job was going to be fulltime but is now not going to be. Fletch definatley wants it and is dirty he is perhaps not getting it.His records suggest he should be a walk up start. Have also heard that Wests have threatened to withdraw there funds if Fletcher gets the position.

Looks a big mess to me

Honestly I don't see Wests Ashfield doing that mate.

They have been very pro what is best for business and WT moving forward. Their motivation seems to come very much from that perspective

I'm not trying to start anything just curious - how does Joe Thomas appease the Balmain side? Or is this simply from the perspective that the Balmain board members were happy to go with him?

what a joke! he must have guaranteed to win the grand final straightaway! what's his form?what a load of rubbish we have to cop again! something more than just politics/appeasing/whatever…... :wtf

Great way to get behind the new man, well done. Keep it up and they'll be appeasing people like you eventually

To all the whining BRET supporters get over it, Fletcher's success came in the form of a 7th or 8th place finish, the side was mostly dreadful. I'd say his fate was sealed long before the GF.

Hopefully since Thomas is close to Potter it will mean the the lads in NSW cup will be seriously considered when they are performing and their FG cohorts are not pulling their weight. Under Sheens, if you were in NSW Cup you were at best considered a last resort for injuries.

As for the supposed motives for Thomas' appointment, that doesn't concern me and I'll support whomever coaches the side. Good luck to Joe and the boys in 2013.

Well that's it CB. If they could convince Tommy to coach the side I wouldn't care if he was the best man for the job. At the end of the day it is a reserve grade team. As much as it is nice to have a finals run the purpose of the team is to support what the NRL team.

To CB's point I agree.

To be honest I have been talking for a few weeks that I believe if his off season is good enough Meaney may just get first crack in the #1\. Fullback is a leaders position after all

Well the talk came from a relative so the tip is credible.

There looks to be some movement away from this, all should be revealed in the next week or so.

That's good to hear, as Fletch got them to a GF. You don't sack that kind of coach…

Fletch got 'BRET' to the GF, not the Wests Tigers!

No kidding…this thread is about the 2013 WT NSW Cup coach. Why would I be commenting on WT NRL side? If you're trying to highlight that since he coached BRET, he has no relevance to 2013 WT NSW Cup side, gee, that's being a little pedantic isn't it?

BRET was technically the WT nsw cup team branded as Balmain. It had Wests based juniors and imports from other clubs and fringe NRL players. It will be branded as WT but the playing roster, training ground and facilities would be the same as 2012.
