Wading thru BS to get to the facts.
It's one of the negatives nowadays of the NRL

@gallagher said:Channel 9 strangles the life out of any game. The commentating last night was as woeful as ever. I found last year more enjoyable due to all games being on Fox. Cant wait for it to start.

Dont get me wrong, im looking forward to round one, but my interest is way down on previous years. Im quite concerned about how little im bothered by it all. The nines and the all stars games certainly reminded me at how boring the game can be. I know they aren't true indicators of the real comp but the video ref stuff in the all stars game just had me syaing all over again "this game really has gone bad". Last year i only ever watched the Tigers games. I always had the other games on but didn't focus on it too much, head in phone, cooking dinner etc etc. I fear that will increase in 2017.
Someone give me a reason why the game will improve in 2017 please, i need it.
A few Tigers wins will most likely change my thinking though.

Totally agree KS. The game has become very very boring, predictable and stale. Up to a few years ago I would pretty much watch nearly every single game every week (weekends were over before you knew it!) but now just watch the Tigers games and just little snippets of the rest. Every game is the same now, no punch-ons, no rib rattling shoulder charges, no hate between teams or players, very poor refereeing, boring as hell replays for every single scoring play (you can't even celebrate a try now as a supporter until they have wasted 3 or 4 minutes analizing replay after replay-even for blatantly obvious decisions), stale footy of the 5 dummyhalf runs and then hoist a bomb variety, the whole game has lost it's unpredictability.
The weak-guttedness of the tossers running the NRL only adds to the frustration, there are definitely clubs who are favoured over others in all aspects, most notably the rorting of the salary cap.
Sport in general nowadays is very sterile, uneventful and stale IMO. Not really many characters anymore, only boring automatrons or complete buttholes ie Kyrgios and Tomic.

Yep. When I'm asked to any social event, the first thoughts are 1) are the Tigers playing that day? 2)will they have the game showing?
@Paris Cobbs said:This is pretty much the way I feel as well. The game is too predictable. Refereeing is dreadful and the player market is not a level playing field. What the game needs is another young Benji Marshall.

@Tiger Come Lately said:I can't wait, footy is not just about the game and results for me, its a family day.
We get together to watch every Tigers game. Either live or on TV. We eat, we talk, we cheer and we argue. If We lose we blame the players, the coach, the ref and kick the dog, we win happy days!
I hardly see my family over summer everyone is out doing their thing, but come footy season it's every weekend!
Bring it on.
@ricksen said:I'm pretty excited for the season, but already annoyed with the media coverage. It seems 80% of the stories we read/watch are anchored by shock jocks or clickbait, with very little substance for the most part. There's already much talk about SOO bolters FFS, and we're 3 weeks away from the season starting. You'll read more stories on things like Lodge's 'redemption' than you'll see intelligent tactical analysis.
Ch 9 coverage is awful, and will probably be even worse now that Yvonne Sampson has shifted over to Fox. Fox have their issues, but their TV product isn't too bad for the most part. There's a fair bit of crap, but enough good content to outweigh the bad.
I'm also sick of SOO as a product, let alone it's presence decimating the proper competition for months in the middle of the season, but that's another story.
