2019 Coaching saga -Thread

Seibold has gone to ground like Cleary confirmed by the Rabbits that contract was upgraded contract offered 2 weeks ago.

The assumption is he is going to the Broncos and Souths will get rid of him as it’s untenable to have a coach I The last year of his contract going to another club. Furner has been told he will be the replacement.

Broncos wing wait a year with Wayne he will be paid out and Seibold start. Tigers will pay good money for Wayne and he won’t want to go a year on the sidelines at his age.

As I stated before odds are very short for Wayne to Tigers. Maguire is a long shot.

Never seen an off season quite like this.

This coaching domino thing is off the charts.

Only cause the media beat up everything … NRL fake news has become like a runaway train.....sad the way journalism has become in the world today

Jesus, if you told me a couple of weeks ago that Madge could be the odd man out I'd have laughed at you.

Des going back to Brookie really threw a cat among the pigeons.

Look i understand what you are saying about the media but the media didnt create this.

This is like something i havent seen before where 4 or 5 clubs could likely change head coaches. Each decision directly impacting another club.

Hate on the media yeah but this is the reality of what is happening.

At least Souths get it.

I wonder how many of their fans want to keep Seibold for next season if he has already dogged them.

Has this kind of thing happened before where a coach has most of the salary cap to spend and walks out the door the next season.

Only when he threw all that said money away and has to deal with the consequences of that for the next 2-3 years. Id run too.

Get a real coach they said. He'll attract quality. Yeah right.

Get what? Haven't you been arguing for weeks that Cleary is gone and laughing at those who doubt it. In that case, how doesn't our club "get it" too?

Des back to Manly was a real shock I would have bet anyone that would not happen but it just goes to show we don't know much really , we have Madge , Bennett , Seibolt , Taylor , Toovey , Walters , all looking for a coaching job , I left CLEARY out as I think he is as good as gone , who we get I have no idea at all but once the first club come out and states we have signed X then it will all fall into place , Bennett could be a real chance hear early if Broncos secure Souths Coach but Madge could be the man for us as I think Bennett would be over the top $$$ for us

Hasler is a non factor in this merry go round as what Manly do has zero effect on other clubs. The real spanner is Furner. Souths decision to go with him would more than likely deliver us Bennett.

And FWIW, i couldn't care less whether we are a coaches back up option. Why is that important? Doesn't mean that coach wouldn't have his heart in it. Todd Payton admitted his preference was not to come here, yet won a premiership a year later. Stop carrying on like victims.

Apparently it has to be before 1st of November as The coaches all commence their 2019 season and hence can be paid for it if moved on once it starts.

Sorry correction,
This concenrn is if the current coaches start the 2019 season it will be coming out of the 2019 coaching cap whereas it’s a tidier option to do it prior or on the day 2018 ceases.

I didn’t know that there was a cap on Coaches, isn’t that the case
I’m pretty sure it wasn’t , when did that change?

The last EBA not so much on Coaches you can still pay a head coach whatever you want but it means less that Clubs can spend on their football operations which includes the coach his staff sports science etc etc

Maybe Mum Burgess could be his assistant, that could be better than a TPA

That would be like getting the wooden spoon.

Ivan Cleary may be coaching against Wests Tigers in round 4 next year
Brent Read Rugby League@brentread_7 _11:00PM October 24, 2018

Ivan Cleary’s days at Wests Tigers appear numbered but if he does leave the club as expected in coming weeks to join Penrith, he will be reunited with his former club soon enough.

The Australian understands the Panthers and Tigers have been drawn to face each other in round four of next year’s premiership, setting up the mouth-watering prospect that Cleary could coach against his former club while the wounds are still relatively fresh from his departure.

The Tigers are expected to make a call on Cleary before the bulk of their squad return to pre-season training in early November. It gives the club about a fortnight to thrash out his future — chief executive Justin Pascoe has been overseas but returns to work today, where his first order of business will be sorting out the club’s coaching situation.

The most likely scenario remains that Cleary will be ushered out the door, leaving him to face the fury of Tigers fans a month into the new season, the only saving grace that the game will be played at Panthers Stadium.

Cleary will then remarkably avoid a trip to any of the Tigers’ home grounds — Parramatta Stadium, Leichhardt Oval and Campbelltown Stadium — because the return match between the two sides will be played during the Magic Round, when all eight games are held at Suncorp Stadium.

The games between the Tigers and Panthers are among the most intriguing as the NRL draw for next season is released today. The grand final rematch between Melbourne and the Sydney Roosters will be played on Good Friday, with South Sydney and Canterbury to play their traditional game later that night. The meeting between the grand final opponents will mark Cooper Cronk’s first appearance at AAMI Park since he left the Storm at the end of the 2017 season.

It will also signify the first time former Storm assistant Adam O’Brien coaches against Melbourne — he has joined the staff of the Sydney Roosters to work alongside Trent Robinson.

The Easter weekend was also meant to signify the opening game for Parramatta at the newly built Western Sydney Stadium, although negotiations are still continuing between the Eels and the state government over hiring fees for the ground.

The opening round has already been released, the season starting with a game between Melbourne and Brisbane at AAMI Park. Souths and the Roosters will play on Friday night, pitting ex-Rabbitohs back rower Angus Crichton against his former club.

Should Cleary join Penrith before the start of next season, his opening game would be against Parramatta at Panthers Stadium on a Sunday afternoon. Round one culminates in a Sunday night game between the Gold Coast and Canberra at Cbus Super Stadium.

Meanwhile, The Tigers are still weighing up their coaching future beyond Cleary, Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett and premiership-winner Michael Maguire neck-and-neck for the role. Bennett would be a major coup for the club.

However, he has told players and staff at the Broncos that he intends to see out the final year of his deal and it would mark a major about-face were he to walk out on the club.

Christ, talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel to try and squeeze juice out of the lemon. Who cares whether we play them in round 4 or round 24\. There's no story there Brent you moron.

Exactly

Our club does get it

There is a process to go through though

We were blindsided by a grub the equivalent of Mitchell

I have faith in Pascoe to get it right

Rabbitohs always knew their position with Seibold

Bennett -tigers (2019)
Seibold -broncos (2019)
Furner -Rabbitohs (2019)
Maguire -no club by the looks of it he’s dug himself a hole by prioritising the broncos.

Hope you're right

Maguire missing out not our fault

If it is the case it would be nice to think that a coach who thought he could use us as a fallback option miss out altogether

I think it may be the other way around. It’s been reported that Bennett is the Tigers first choice. Madge apparently is our fallback option.

That’s my understanding as well.

I understand we are targeting Bennett as a priority and madge as a fallback option

What we are speculating in the 1st 2 posts is that it seems madge is prioritising the broncos over the tiger's and that it is more than likely he will miss broncos job

In that case if and only if he had the chance to sign with tiger's for 2019 because Bennett didn't want to come until 2020 than madge may have just cost himself the chance to get an NRL coaching gig altogether

Therefore it would be nice to see a coach who saw us as his fallback option miss our

Read the gronk calls our home ground "Parra stadium" then goes on to mention is as 'the newly built Western Sydney Stadium"

What a turd

Get that you can't run out with a coach who is already contracted to another club. Souths with strong types like Richardson and Crowe will remove Seibild from the role as soon as his Broncos job is confirmed.

As they should.

As it seems Pascoe and our club are doing.
