I don't know about that, watching us trying to score tries put me to sleep quite a bit this year. Our attack this season was the worst I've seen it for many years. And before you say anything, I'm actually a supporter of Cleary!

I think you're 100% correct. Our attack this year was dreadful and hard to watch. Cleary improved our defence by leaps and bounds but, with a few exceptions, our attack was boring and predictable. That's why I'm so disappointed with our recruitment thus far. Matterson is a good buy I'm sure but Momirovski is an ISP player at this stage who might or might not step up to NRL level. With only two spots left open we really need to recruit class players with an emphasis on attack. I'm hoping we move a couple of players on e.g McQueen and Rochow to increase the number of players we can recruit.

My main point in the post was that Ivan has done a great job within the club and not just the team….the team had a much better attitude on the field and the defence improved greatly this year....there was a lot more stability in the club and the backstabbing and bad media almost didnt exist...having said that the team were rated wooden spooners at the start of 2018 and finishing in 9th spot was a terrific effort considering some poor reffing and not winning the games we needed ..

If Ivan is staying I hope he continues the great work he has done so far...if he leaves the next bloke has a more stable environment to work within and the club will either break even financially or be slightly in the black...not bad to start next season with...

Granted Ivan has done a lot in respect to the teams defence and their attitude on the field however i think you are understating the role of Pascoe and the board in creating a more stable and professional club. I really don't think Ivan had much to do with that at all and it could be argued that his constant babbling about his son sees him as the one who is destabilising the club and drawing media attention.. The instability of the last few years was also due to a few prima donnas who have since parted ways.

I still cannot understand the hysteria on here because Ivan is leaving when his contract is finished in 2 years time..

That is all that we have to go on at the moment,nothing more nothing less,the rest is speculation and emotions running high..

So what if Ivan coaches the Panthers in 2021,as long as he professionally coaches the team and continues his great work that he has done so far at this club until his contract is up,is all we can ask….calling him names and the like wont really make a difference if he is still here and doing a good job..

This is the world of NRL,a high career changing business,one day your the best player since Dally Messenger,the next your out with a career ending injury...
One day your the best coach to have ever graced the football park...next your sacked because of a number of reasons if any...

Contractual agreements are like toilet paper and what its used for these days....Money speaks volumes more ….

If Ivan goes next year or is released,sobeit,I wont lose sleep over it...there will be another coach employed to take his place and the carnival keeps going and going and going...

Simply put TT but remember a number of players have already said that they would find it awkward if their coach had already signed with another club in two years time.

Imagine if a player makes a remark of “here comes the next Penrith coach” during the preseason. IC gets upset and disciplines said player. My guess is the other players will get mighty upset about it and IC will have certainly lost the dressing room.

If IC has signed with Penrith for 2021 then it really is an impossible position for the club.

Also, no matter what Penrith say publicly, privately they wouldn’t want to wait two years for their next contracted coach.

I accept your opinion on this cq,however,the big BUT is..Ivan only signed a 3 year contract initially,the players must have had an inkling that Ivan has a choice to stay or go after that 3 year period..it is a business of short term contracts mostly,even considering Bellamy at the Storm has been given extention after extention in his favour no doubt..

If any player makes an absolute childish and immature comment such as you have stated,then they should go and find another sport…they are supposed to be professionals on huge money and should know the situations that can arise...

I hate to break it to you TT but most footballers are childish and immature.

It's really quite unbelievable how someone can fall so far from Grace. Going back just 8 - 12 weeks or so, pretty much everyone was on the bus with a coach who (we all thought) had direction. Little did we know what would unfold. Once again, we somehow end up the most talked about club for all the wrong reasons. What a joke. Is it any wonder we constantly lose? Not only are we locked into a coach that clearly doesn't want to be here, but he has the cheque bookmark at his disposal and can squander away to his heart's content. Because let's face it, he wont be sacked for under performing as a coach. In the contrary, that outcome would be quite the reward in many ways. This off season will be one of the longest in memory. Constant negative press and rumours, players being asked questions they can't answer and boring scripted responses, the spotlightght always finds this club. It all gets very hard to be enthused at times. I don't really know if anyone will be too excited to kick off round 1 if IC is still running the show.

It’s a shame. .Had stability for a good five months there. We got off to a fantastic start to season 2017\. All the bad eggs had gone. Had room to move in the Cap. The players attitude in defence was something we hadn’t seen in a very long time.
Penriff and the Cleary’s have a lot to answer for.
Vengeance is needed.
Penriff will want Ivan ASAP. Nathan will want daddy. But we hold daddy.
Sign anyone as coach for 2022 (As a puppet coach) and Penriff will be putty in our hands.
They will want Ivan released early and paid.
It’s time to get on the front foot.

I would have preferred Bennett over Madge only because of his ability to bring players.not he’s coaching ability . However Madge might be what we need.

I am a betting man and I would say that Ivan Cleary is at least a 95% chance of coaching the West tigers in 2019 and 2020\. Time for everybody to look for another shocking revelation from the journos.

If we get Bennett in 2020, Hodgson could be a caretaker for 2019.

Hodgo will be awesome for us one day. But I want to see him actually win a bit of silverware in the lower grades first. He would be less prepared then Cameron Ciraldo.

That being said, my prediction:
Cleary will stay in 2019
Wayne will stay at Brisbane 2019.
Ciraldo gets a shot at Penrith because Ivan wants to honour his contract. Remember the main reason he is moving is to be with his son. He doesn't have to do it in a year.
2020 we get Wayne or someone else who is good (Des or Mcguire).
