2019 Coaching saga -Thread

We are an embarrassment. Our preferred options are holding off seeing if they can get a better offer elsewhere.

We need a plan e so that we can move forward and sign a coach.

Put something in the contract that prevents them meeting with other clubs before the season that the contract expires, punishable by penalties that would bankrupt them.

I now want Demetriou for 3 years. If you do due diligence an up and coming coach is often a better option than someone proven to be average.

We need to be honest of the fact that we are seen as also rans. The bottom of the heap that will only be embraced by those with limited options and one eye on the exit door.

We need to focus on accurately identifying playing and coaching talent on the way up and locking them down, so by the end of their contract they are a tightly bonded and successful group.

Don't even know where to start with this except that half of it nonsense and half of it is so obvious as to be pointless.

Bankrupt a coach through a contract. Sure. Actually whilst we are at it, let's get them to sign a contract where they pay us money to coach our team.

Good luck on trying to find a Coach stupid enough to sign a contract worded that way,
And if we did find one, we shouldnt want to sign him anyway, if he was that dopey

It all comes down to who Broncos choose. Then there will be a domino effect.

We are 2nd or 3rd choice. Will always until we get a COE and one home ground.

Not sure how accurate he is with his info but that Gerard Condon from reading the play says that Seibold to broncos was signed off months ago. But agree, domino's will fall once broncos make their appointment official.

A contract is a binding agreement with relevant terms and conditions. I would suggest that we would not want a coach that would not agree to not negotiate with other potential (and our competitive opponents) employers until that contract is about to expire.

Players are banned from doing it. The fact that the NRL won’t introduce similar laws for coaches, doesn’t stop us from including it as a clause in the contract. The value of the penalties for breach would be part of the negotiations.

Here's what I've heard.

Cleary expects to report to Panthers training in 10 days. No contract has been signed.

Tigers want Bennett. Maguire second choice.
Broncos want Seibold
Maguire wants Broncos
Bennett is softening on Tigers (I.e. More possible than before)

Nobody has signed anything. And so it goes on…

Thanks for the update, Yoss. The merry-go-round continues.

That's very interesting re: Bennett. Would be pretty cool if he decided to come here immediately.

This thread contains more drama, suspense, faux outrage, twists and turns than any TV show i have seen in a while.

I might cancel my Netflix subscription… Save me $13.99 a month.

That would be the best scenario from this coaching circus

So 3 coaches want Broncos…Cleary can’t exit fast enough....and no one wants the Tigers as ther first choice.....sad

On Macquarie Sports radio they've said that Seibold to the broncos will be confirmed next week on a 4 year deal. Was about an hour ago.

Maguire could loose out altogether, if the broncos get Seibold, we Get Bennett.

Thanks Yoss, you're one of a few who makes any sense on this forum.

Fair Dinkum- Why would Maguire sign with the Tigers at this stage when He believes there's a chance he'll pick up a job at the Broncos with unlimited TPA, State of art facilities and a chequebook at his disposal with unlimited funds.

Same goes for Bennett, why would he leave immediately having enjoyed all of the above for so long until he has no other choice.

And if all goes pear-shaped then Cleary might have to show some professionalism and suck it up. STIFF.

I know what your saying, but what if souths release Seibold to brisbane, Bennett comes here and Cleary goes to penrith, Maguire is left without a job, he is in a bind, do I or don't I situation.
And thanks Yoss, much appreciated

So basically 5 clubs havnt sorted out their coaching structure less than two weeks before preseason starts. Circus alright.

I can't see Bennett leaving til end of next year. Ditto Seibold.

Don't be so sure, if souths don't re-sign Seibold, they will likely send him off to the Bronc's, they will not want him if he has signed elsewhere

Its looking very likely Cleary will be here for the next 2 years…Bennett not interested in us...

So no Madge?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Maguire is more of a chance to coach us than Bennett.
