Madge won a premiership with the English equivalent of the broncos, and then took a roster built by John Lang to a premiership before going backwards.

He reminds me of Ricky Stuart in terms of performance.

Hopefully he is invested in the future of the club. I do not see him as a coach that will attract players and would have preferred Demetriou.

I will ask a question. Will his first couple of years produce a better outcome than 9th, and if not how long do we blame it on Cleary while thinking we have a top line coach

Chicken or the egg hey ??

And that would be the next point , wouldn't you be wanting coach with the same mindset as Cleary to continue the re-build

I would expect that from 851, as hes pretty special ,and seems to have a fair problem with the English language

But i did think that you would get it.Yes Im disappointed that Ivan wont be here next year , but i'm more disappointed that we got the last man standing again,

just to jog yours and 581,s memory, Why would I be in denial, as in both conversations that I participated IN,
My points were validated.
I said: that the talk about him asking for a release was completely unfounded, and both the top people in the club had verified emphatically that that was the case. FACT.

But….. even now, No one FROM THAT MEETING, has come out and said that he did ask for one.
I never said that he wouldn't leave , but only that the comments here that had asking for a release had no basis in fact, but were just guesses,

The second debate was, that it was said here, that Benny had not told anyone that he would be at the Broncos in 2019.
and that was being pushed as the truth ,
I said that Benny **had** told the players and the club publicly, that he was going to be there in 2019
He said thatat the presentation and to the players before that,

851 had a real problem because Benny said that 'WE"LL BE BACK HERE IN 2019, " ,
HE thought that "we" didnt mean Bennett as well
After i referred 851 to the dictionary, and hed had time to figure out he was wrong, he threw the dictionary away and complained that it was crap, as there were too many words in it and it didnt make sense.
Benny did say that he would be back in 2019....FACT
ONCE AGAIN, , I did not say that Benny would not leave sometime, just that he'd actually told the Broncos that he would be back in 2019

I see no one countering Happy's point about Nathan Cleary…just having a go at him...

It is extremely valid ...it derailed Ivan ..set us back on what was built...early on this season it became obvious with their various interviews on Fox...for management to say it wasn't an issue shows they dropped the ball and not without blame...

How do we know for sure they were not doing something behind the scenes, it is pretty much certain they lied to the public about Ivan asking for a release to protect our image.
So why could they not also be lying about it not being an issue with all the Nathan and Ivan talk, they could have been trying to fix this all along, just not playing it out in the public like previous CEO's and chair's did.

The fact they only started seeking a replacement in October hints at reactive I believe..

If it was a perceived issue earlier and they believed it was an issue the process for a replacement should have started much much earlier…

So your calling out Pascoe again? Or is it a joke? Just so we are clear.

Happy to be proven wrong but i'm sure when Go was interviewed on League Life she said when Ivan was interviewed for the job it was NEVER part of the package for him to bring Nathan. She also stated that Ivan had complete control of the salary cap and that if he wanted to sign Nathan up that was entirely his call. Like i said mate, i'm, happy to be proven wrong.

No you are 100% right, I saw the interview on FOX, the main part of that interview was that Ivan had complete control to bring Nathan if he liked.
So Nathan not coming is more Cleary's fault than any one else.

So if this wasn't an issue and IC had full control of the salary cap (which was said totally agree ) should of the next question been "if you can't get Nathan to sign with the WT's , what then "

Marina has said it was a non issue , yes it was HUGE issue , it is the TOTAL issue

Again it adds further petrol to the fire meaning that Pascoe and Go both fell for IC lies

That's why these people earn the big bucks for …...read a big situation and make the big call and GET IT RIGHT

Nathan Cleary wouldn't have been the right fit (many on hear totally agree without getting our forwards right first ) .....so why was that even part of the discussion and if IC thought he was part of the equation at that time he wasn't the coach

Then they didn't see that Bennett wasn't playing us off for the Souths job

And they couldn't recruit the coaches son

We have 3 bad decisions that the leadership group (throw Egan and the bloke from the Saints in as well ) have made in one single decision

Yes but they are the way moving forward

Stop believing the club palava /fluff , use some common sense and think about it

It hurts me just as much as you blokes that yet again we have turned up a one way street , but we have unfortunately

Ivan met with Penrith, they asked if he was interested in coaching and he said yes. Cleary went to the tigers and asked for a release, they said no. Ivan went back to panthers and they said let’s sign you for 2021 and force tigers hand. Ivan went to Pascoe and told him. Pascoe met with Bennett realised he wasn’t genuine and then nutted a deal with Madge but told him to hold tight until they sort out Ivan the terrible. They put a price of $500k on his head and Gus agreed. Paperwork all signed in the next few days and happy days. We’ve been trying to tell you this for the last few weeks.

Go said they didn't ask the obvious question because they were in a professional relationship

The obvious follow up question was " If Nathan won't come to the WT's , what next , will you continue coaching the WT's "

When your interviewing and you have ANY lingering doubts you do follow up questions to 100 % reassure yourself this person won't leave you high and dry and as an interviewee you should the exact same , ask questions , find out whether this is the choice you want for your future

Either way you try and stop dead ending yourself in a job you don't want and can't get out of short term or get stuck with someone who is the wrong fit or wants out when you need them the most

Anyway doesn't matter , as long as Pascoe and Madge keep doing their BS stand up routine every few months the world will be fine and Pascoe can take over as Arthur Fonzarelli

Yeah and I'm sure with your incisive questioning he would have broken down and confessed his future intent to shaft the club…his future intent that may not even have been present at the time.

They got dudded by a guy who was far less honourable than he likes to make out and a club that were prepared to go to extraordinary lengths by offering 5 years to a coach with a 48% career win record. It's not something they could've done much about.

No you can't always get it right

But you ask the question , review the interview , and if the interviewee repeats the actions in that question as they did in other questions where you had doubt you may be able to get a read if they are being truthful or not

As I have learnt though in the last few years , people are far better at interviewing than 20 years ago , but far worse in the work force than 20 years ago

Biggest issue in my profession is that around 40 % of the process is done online , you don't ask many of the questions you did in the past face to face

My opinion …less paperwork for HO = more headaches in the workplace for me

Getting back to the initial point you made , professional people on big bucks need to be completely thorough in their dealing with all applicants , you ask all the questions because that is your job

You assume nothing ......if that means being perceived as being anal .....too bad so sad

That is accountability , more people that used this word as law in their lives would find it easier in the long run

People know how you'll behave and won't try and pull the wool over your eyes as they realize they can't .......

If that's the case (Panthers agreeing to pay us for Ivan) then I say we came out on top. Stayed strong, got compensated and possibly come out with a better and long-term coach. Well done Pascoe and team!

Yet part of the strategy to keep him was an extension offered not yet deserved and that's good Management.. extraordinary lenghts indeed..
