Was about to post the same thing.. But that won't stop some saying they know this or otherwise..

I feel this drama has really lowered the standard of this forum too… Quite a defining moment in this places history, it's going down the crapper

Is the pot calling the kettle black.

…. Didn't take long for my point to be proved

Your having major arguments with people in 2 different threads yet your talking about the standard in the forum. You need to get of your high horse. Lots of people can make that comment about the standards and you are most definitely not one of them.

Point is, buddy, that ink has been around here a long long time and managed to stay on mostly civil terms with most people, to be a valued contributor over many thousands of posts. I don't always see eye to eye with ink but I don't goad him into arguments either.

You have not been here long at all and seem to be very argumentative. I've read you running arguments against a wide variety of posters and I personally find it tiring. It's your right to do this, but in ~500 posts I read a lot of arguing and far less contributing. To the point where I generally skip over what you write.

Just my opinion but I've been around here a long time too.

You mean like professionals…where is the fun in that...agreed btw.

but lets try reverse pshyc..1st..

Yeah, good one.

This from an extract regarding seibold to broncos and quotes from Shane Richardson below.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a firm administrator like that.

The Rabbitohs tabled Seibold a contract extension back in June, but with the rookie coach interviewing for the Broncos role, and therefore stalling on the offer, it was pulled.

“I always genuinely though that he’d stick with us, it didn’t overly concern me,” Richardson said.

“But when it became clearer and clearer that he wouldn’t be with us, we had to (move on).

“We’re a great club, we don’t want to be second best to anybody.”

Why is that firm and how is that any different from Tigers?

Tigers thought genuinely Ivan would stay, and when it became clearer and clearer that Penrith were offering him a deal, we had to move on.

What I would find alarming as a Souths fan is that Richo says he was confident Seibold would stay, and wasn't concerned by the Brisbane role. He either totally misread Seibold's intentions or underestimated the lure/power of the Broncos job.

Tigers at least didn't underestimate Ivan or Penrith. We took legal action as soon as rumours of a possible move surfaced, then we maneuvered to ID a new coach whilst forcing Penrith into a payout. The only person we underestimated was Nathan, though nobody can say how confident we were of ever signing him.

I think the fact Nathan didn’t want to come to West’s reflects Ivan’s opinion on our club .otherwise I’m sure daddy could have sold west’s to his son

Don't underestimate the desire of staying and playing with mates

I think it's more that Nathan just really wanted to continue playing alongside the guys he grew up with through the juniors rather than switching to another club and starting all over again. I honestly think Nathan's decision to stick with Penrith forced Ivan's hand to leave us in the long run, moreso than the other way around.

Time to put all the negativity over Clearygate to bed and start trying to get some positive vibes.

Tough ask bro when the pre-season hasn't even started.

This would be miles behind us if there were football games being played. I believe the sniping and negativity of the off-season is a byproduct of the dramatic increase in news volume, innuendo and fantasy footy during the regular season. In the old days, there was the newspaper, the RLW and 1 match on TV. When the Grand Final finished the papers switched to cricket and you went and found another hobby until Summer ended.

Now there's news websites, forums, twitter accounts, NRL.com, every match televised over 4 days etc. People are used to such a huge volume of material to talk about and it moves on rapidly each week. But when the comp finishes, the actual football is gone and all that's left is the innuendo and tidbits. It gets people wound up and they don't move on, because there's nothing to move on to… and the cricket sucks nowadays.

I believe that Ivan Cleary during his time at Wests Tigers was always fated, due to family connection, to perform the task of Wests Tigers stop gap coach. Michael Maguire now coach for the next four years is the club's future and the sooner the West Tigers supporters and players get behind him so much better it will be for West Tigers future. Get behind him and the club will certainly prosper.

Well, well forumers,I see disappointment, hatred and much anger in this thread toward Ivan, understandably so…However as I said ages ago, this is the NRL and anything is possible...Although much of the media talk etc had many different outcomes it finally appears that we may have Maguire coaching our great team..My opinion on his employment with us is,give him a fair go at trying to re establish and clean up the mess, prepare for 2019 and hopefully help recruit players we need in particular positions..

My main concern in regards to this thread is the constant sniping and criticism of people who cast an opinion, granted many have only let emotions get in the way of a good debate and if it didn't suit their opinion they would get aggressive and nasty and really what for?

I will put my head on the block and say that NONE of us really know how Pascoe and Ivans relationship is,what is written in the final release papers and when all this has been started behind closed doors, most of it will be confidential...
\
\
I did have faith in Ivan and Iam disappointed that he has stopped the bus, however as I said before it is his career and his life,he can choose to do as he wishes when he wishes,as far as the father son combination will go,blood is thicker than water and if he wants to coach his son in one of the biggest arenas in the world sobeit and good luck to both of them...
\
\
I fully support Madges appointment and will continue to support my team and club as I have before...

Well said totally agree

According to the above article, we get no compensation from Penrith, other than the fact that they are taking what has become a liability off our hands

It also says we play slimey mk2 at ANZ in round 9\. I think Adrian should check his facts.

This thread is unbelievable. It reminds me of what Tom Hanks says to people he is going to play in movies:

I am going to say things you never said. I am going to do things you never did. I am going to go places you never went.

What I can not understand with the whole 5 year Cleary deal and Penrith was it was originally only a 3 year deal once his WT contract expired so if he starts immediately is it not still a 3 year deal from next year and Penrith can still turf him if there are no results in this period. So how safe would his 5 year tenure be as it only buys him one year longer than he already had here. If he has managed a 5 year deal then good luck to him but agree he had to go now.

there is a big article in today's SMH about the swap over could even be announced today. to busy to post up.

This scenario is why we should show loyalty to top players who stick with us.

I don't know if "not getting it" is your profession, you are that good at it.

I didn't say permission, you don't need my permission to do anything, I said it's pointless. I believe it's pointless getting too excited about all the different theories, and let's be honest there's been one thousand different claims about this topic in the last 3 months. When there's so much misinformation, you are better off waiting for something official.

However when 99% of the media outlets align and EVERY journo is saying Tigers-Madge-Penrith-Cleary deal is almost done Thurs-Fri-Sat, then you can start to consider that it is likely to be true. Not official, but probable.

Same thing happened with Nathan Cleary's signature, there was all this crap, then NRL.com, SMH, Telecrap all started running the same story that a deal had been done - at that time you can assume the consensus means it has indeed been done.

No buddy I do get it, I get it very well. You on the other hand not so much I think. 99% of the media reported Ivan Cleary meeting with Penrith. 99% of the media reported Cleary asking for a release. 99% of the media reported Cleary signing with Penrith from 2021\. 99% of the media reported we were in talks with Madge/Bennett. It’s been a consistent story the media has been running with since day one. A few on here ran with it by using common sense. You now want to jump on board so good for you. But this has been the story since day dot, not sure what different theories you were talking about , but if it makes you feel better then fantastic.

Not sure where you have been during all of this, but if you don’t believe that there was a continuos barrage of different theories by all the so-called journalists , commentators, and the public.
You must have been off the Planet,
Brent Read has ran so many guesses that he must have had trouble in remembering just what what his official opinion actually was..

The silliest Theory, was from the crowd that were convinced that Gold Bar Benny was on his way to Concord( or wherever our Home is this week)
That was never going to happen, but that story was being pushed all over the place

We were only ever linked to 2 coaches Bennett and Madge. What planet are you living on? What different theories are you talking about. It was one consistent story. Ivan meets with Penrith, asks for a release, Tigers say no, Cleary signs for 2021, tigers speak to Bennett/Madge, madge signs, Cleary released. Don’t try to re write history now.

For God's sake, let it go.

Thank you for coming to your girlfriends defence. She’s so lucky to have you. I didn’t know I had to meet your style to post on here. You sound even more silly when the person your defending has more arguments than most on here. But wait that is okay because he is part of the boys club. You guys just can’t handle different opinions and when you don’t like the boys club comes into play. Difference is posters like myself and others won’t shut up to you guys. Now go away and stop trolling me.

Re the compo…...we will never know, the terms of Cleary’s release will have a very strict and binding confidentiality clause.

I say there has been compo paid, other wise what would delay the release till today or when ever

Correct all these types of payments are normally have non-disclosure agreements attracted.

I have read every post in this thread but i have not posted any comment, i think. I just want to say that i had belief in Ivan thought he would change things up and he did somewhat, No better than JT. I do remember him pulling a same stunt whilst at warriors a Gouldly involvement at the time also. He did what he did for our club and did the same for the Warriors - No Result!!!! Good Riddance you turncoat. Enjoy Your second coming Goooooouldy experience. Halloween next week, seems fitting with all the spiders and snakes.
