Serious question ? How can you say you can’t afford something you’ve already paid for ... in full ? Were you seriously planning to go to every game ? Also would you consider an out of towners package to lessen the blow ? I don’t really understand the logic .. but I’m not judging. Especially when the comp could restart in a couple of months

I think the problem is many people's situation has now changed due to the virus, I know my business is going to bring in less then half of what w projected!

So you’re looking to recoup any money you can ? That’s fair enough I guess . Still if you’re spending based on future earnings instead of what you have , seems kind of crazy to me

Why do you think they have the payment plans mate? What do you think a mortgage is? Why do you think our clubs would still need the money for memberships that they are not fulfilling?

That is a very naïve post!

No it isn’t . If you buy a , say PlayStation do you look to recoup the cost, if future earnings slide . Or is it that , that’s now money spent. And should you have bought it in the first place , if you would potentially need to sell it . I’m not judging , just offering a alternative point of view to what your saying .
Also payment plans and mortgages I totally understand your point there , we all have them . I’m merely talking about “entertainment products” like your tigers membership, or the kids PlayStation, or a new set of golf clubs etc .
.

If you buy a PlayStation you get a PlayStation. If it can be delivered you get a refund or a delayed delivery date.

If you buy a seat at a game and it can’t be delivered....refund or reduced cost next year

Credit card companies will refund it if the club wont.

you pay for a service and you sre not getting it e.g. games for ticketed members the fans deserve some compensation for games missed

That would be fair enough if you bought tickets to the games, say from ticketek or NRL.com. In this case we bought MEMBERSHIP as a means of supporting the club, different. The option of supporting the club hasnt been removed.

Not saying that it isnt unreasonable to expect refunds, but it isnt a direct transaction.

Except they aren't really memberships are they? They are season tickets, I buy my membership for the seats I get at the game! Many people are the same. I am not looking to make a donation to the club, I have done that through the new foundation they have set up as I can claim a tax deduction on it!

we bought memberships for 11 home games and ticketed seats, the games are not going ahead or in this case we are locked out.
i did not pay for a donation to the club i paid for the home games if at the start of the year these home games were not happening then i would not have paid my membership
The club needs to be careful they may lose a few members

Clubs won’t be able to afford direct refunds for memberships. Most likely you’ll get discounts or credit for next year when the virus drama is over. If everyone demands refunds now our club could sink, lucky we are better off than most clubs in the financial department thanks to Pascoe.

See that’s the rub right . That’s where you and I differ . I don’t buy for the seat as I can’t get to most games as I don’t live in Sydney , and C-town being my nearest of our grounds absolutely sux IMO. I want to buy a membership to support my club . I explained my thoughts and why earlier. Mate I actually agree with most of what your saying , I’m just offering a second point of view. If you can’t afford it you can’t afford it , that’s fine , I’m just saying the reason I don’t think of membership as the same as tickets. 1 is more like charity IMO , so not really tangible , the other a fixed transaction . That’s what my point was.
Do you understand what I’m saying ?

I do but I have already donated to the club through the foundation, my $1000 worth of memberships are for seats at the game!

This is what I was trying to get too . Really what you think you’re paying for ? Neither is more right than the other morally , ethically etc. You pay your membership for the tickets and that’s what you expect . Fair enough . I pay for the club , as I can’t get to most games , and the ones I can are inconvenient. I think this really needs to be determined . Because they’re 2 competing ethos’.

That’s fair enough dude . I was drilling down to the guts of the matter. Didn’t mean to be preaching , or condescending. I might have come off that way. I couldn’t understand why , until you and few others explained it . It’s just conceptually how different people view the same thing .

I understand what you mean. I haven’t lived in Sydney itself for some time now. I rarely get to all the games my membership entitles me to. It’s nice to have the option but like you it’s supporting the club through money and membership numbers that is important for me.

Memberships are a small part of the financial income for the Club in reality ..so they will be able to absorb any refunds if need be ..it's not going to send them broke like the effect it may have on AFL for instance..

What will hurt is Corporate support which takes up a much larger % in income..they will be hit hard ,,,reducing their sponsorship will have a bigger impact on Clubs like ours

I doubt that very much think how many brown paper bags he has opened

Re memberships each to their own. Tough times people may need the cash. I won’t be seeking a refund.

Magic round & SOO however for those tickets if its called off I would be either seeking a refund or if the nrl offered free tickets to next SOO/Magic round would take that as well.

what is the difference between Magic Round refund and SOO it is still a game you bought a ticket to.
i bought a ticket to LO grandstand for my family 4 reserved tickets in my membership and Campbletown x 4 tickets now if we are unable to go to those games then it should be a refund it is no different that SOO.
if you have bought a membership it is for a reserved seat or entry to a game if it does not occur then it did not happen hence a refund is required or credit to next years membership not merchandise if i want a jersey i will buy a jersey thanks.
if i wanted to make a donation to the club terrific i may donate $20 or $50 not a $1500 family membership.
i think consumer affairs at some point will have a field day you have bought for a membership that is not able to be used even the airlines are giving credit on flights for a year period the tigers should do the same when the dust settles and we know how many games are missed etc credit to next years season tickets.
if you had bought tickets through ticketek for the first 4 games you would be receiving a refund
