Not everyone can afford to make donations to professional sporting organisations. Where does that stop? I have tickets to multiple events that have been cancelled today and will be expecting a refund on all of them!

This is also true, the easiest way would be to nominate a refund amount up to 100%.

I'm sure many fans would still give a little bit of they could afford it.

This current crisis within our great game of Rugby League has got me going in the opposite direction @old_man_tiger.
I wasn't going to renew my Wests Tigers membership this year, but I will now.

Good for you @MAGPIES1963. My membership is fully paid and they can keep it, even though if the economy goes belly up I will struggle, I am not looking for a refund.

Us to we do not want it back ... the club is going to struggle .. just our bit to help !

Serious question ? How can you say you can’t afford something you’ve already paid for ... in full ? Were you seriously planning to go to every game ? Also would you consider an out of towners package to lessen the blow ? I don’t really understand the logic .. but I’m not judging. Especially when the comp could restart in a couple of months

I went today . And won’t be likely to see any other game this year . I’ll also look to buy an out of towners package. I was thinking about it anyway.

Yep, an out of towners package for me as well @Strongee
as I live in a regional area.

Just in line with my previous comment , in VIC they don’t consider you a supporter unless you actually “support”the club . There levels . Which is why the memberships are high. Just food for thought . I remember a mate I had , who was a Carlton supporter refusing to acknowledge an opinion of another mate , because he’d lived in Melb his whole life and never got membership. Both On the same coin . At the time I asked him , as I thought it was bit ridiculous, and he said , “ you pay your money to have a stake” now it’s my club as much as anyone else’s” . This was common in VIC . It’s always stuck with me since .

Im with you, I wont be seeking my refund, happy to help the club out. The purpose of buying the membership was to support the club, not to get reduced priced tickets.

I dont follow the logic of those demanding a refund. You have spent the money, it is gone. By going to the game or not, is not going to change what you can "afford". If you could "afford" to pay it in the first place, nothing has changed. To those demanding a refund, did you buy a membership to support the club or get cheap tickets?

My main point on refunds is - how long will the membership money actually keep the club "afloat"? If it would be a significant source of important revenues, then I'd want the club to keep my money.

If the membership money is paltry compared to match-day incomes, i.e. if it would hardly make a difference in terms of time and all the clubs run out of money in a few weeks anyway, then they should give refunds. No need to piss people's money away in vain.

The first question in regards to "staying afloat" is whether or not the NRL / clubs have been given advance broadcaster funds and spent that income, such as having to find the money when the broadcasters ask for it back.

Second question is whether they intend to or must play player salaries in the event the competition is stopped. They've already made noises towards not being obliged to pay players, which would be a massive cost savings for the code.

I think the problem is many people's situation has now changed due to the virus, I know my business is going to bring in less then half of what w projected!

Things have changed massively for a lot of people, due to loss of income that this crisis has the potential to cause!

Why do you think they have the payment plans mate? What do you think a mortgage is? Why do you think our clubs would still need the money for memberships that they are not fulfilling?

That is a very naïve post!

No it isn’t . If you buy a , say PlayStation do you look to recoup the cost, if future earnings slide . Or is it that , that’s now money spent. And should you have bought it in the first place , if you would potentially need to sell it . I’m not judging , just offering a alternative point of view to what your saying .
Also payment plans and mortgages I totally understand your point there , we all have them . I’m merely talking about “entertainment products” like your tigers membership, or the kids PlayStation, or a new set of golf clubs etc .

If I buy a PlayStation and sony announces that I can't play it then yes I would seek to recoup the cost? Also the Tigers offer payment plans for memberships so they are encouraging people to buy a membership with their future earnings. Also the fact they would need to keep memberships monies for games they can't fulfil means the club themselves are spending based of future earnings so your post is indeed extremely naïve!

Last thing I will say is if I was able to attend the games then I wouldn’t have been thinking of requesting a refund, I still mightn’t, but many people can not afford to pay for a service they are not receiving!

Seems straight forward to me. Would fans be happy with the NRL not refunding costs of origin tickets if cancelled?

you pay for a service and you sre not getting it e.g. games for ticketed members the fans deserve some compensation for games missed
