Souths showed plenty of courage to hang in and with a bit of luck things could have been different, but it wasn't to be. Souths premiership window has now probably shut for a few years at least. Few key players leaving the club and a few getting older.
**Penrith I am not sure on, Burton and Capewell will be missed but they do have a steady supply of talent emerging through their systems**.
Certainly will be opportunities for clubs to make a charge for glory over the next couple of years…maybe not ours

They will always be there abouts while Cleary remains fit. His kicking game will keep them in any game much the way Andrew Johns was able to carry Newy.

Credit must also go to Dylan Edwards. It's common knowledge the fullback is key to ensuring defence structures remain sound under pressure. Dylan ain't the most dynamic fullback but his team mates & Ciraldo are clearly aware of his value to their structures.

The other 15 teams I don't give a toss - they can all rot in hell as far as I am concerned.

Well deserved win but at the same time, these new rules absolutely suit them to a tee. No one has benefitted more from PVL being in charge than them really (maybe Turbo but that's it), there's a reason they went from terrible to the best team in the competition so fast

I thought this last year, but not this year.
Their title win was on the back of their defence.
This is the opposite of PVL footy. They only scored 6 tries in their 4 finals appearances.

Oh they fully took advantage of PVL ball, constantly offside, constantly slowing down the ruck and they do it more than anyone. Happy to give away 6 agains almost every set and take the absolute piss in the ruck, that's what I mean by taking advantage of the rules

They bash teams, kick to corners, cheat in the ruck until they break teams down and score. They're obviously still extremely good but these rules have taken them to another level and suits them perfectly

Never in doubt. The best team all year. They were decimated during origin which slowed them down but their top form was better than any other teams top form this year.

yep, they don't score a try without him. Unfortunately, Walker nails that pass 99/100 times and he actually already nailed 3 linebreaks down that side.. he chose the wrong man was this one and Penrith got lucky.

Reynolds would have practiced that kick from the sideline 1000x in the last 2-3 years but didn't kick all week until yesterday but still only missed by inches.

Penrith were clearly the fitter, better, hungrier and more skillful side all year. Not trying to take credit away from Ivan but this was a player driven effort. No amount of motivational training can supplement the hurt from last year and the experiences of Origin. In the end, their game plan was simple, keep your feet moving and get there.. just in case.

The Finals series won't be as good next year IMO.

Our team were an embarrassing pile of dog turds this year. Scoring a win against a team with 8 first choice players missing was nice. Good on us.
We came 13th and they won the comp. That’s what matters.
