So what is the ideal bench for 2022 ?

We got some decent options for 2022 with some big changes coming in 2023.

For mine, having Peachy at 13 allows for us not to carry a second hooker.
Allowing Simpkin to level up in NSW cup.

14 Seyfarth
15 Musgrove
16 Mikaele
17 Joffa

18 Garner (New MCK)

14 Simpkin
15 Seyfarth
16 Mikaele
17 Musgrove

18 Mr Tamou (c)

I rate it.

Garner doesn't make the team?

Really need someone who can cover the backs, in case of injury, would love to see the Peach remain as lock when on the field.

14 The Peach
15 Tuki
16 Mikaele
17 Kelma

If the team is fit and well, I can't see any spot for Tamou, Zane or Garner

More people have to prove themselves.

Our pack hasnt muscled up. I am happy for a bit of Ruthlessness and dropping players.

I think Tamou has another level in him and its the coaches job to get it out not accept mediocrity.

Backs its harder to drop, but same applies.

So yes, move any big name to reserve grade. Particularly in the pack.

14. Jake Simpkin
15. Tyrone Peachey
16. Luciano Leilua
17. Alex Seyfarth

Simpkin/Liddle to share the dummy half role. I'd prefer Peachey to spend 10 to 20 minutes there and have a forward on the bench but I think it's more likely they both play 40 minutes.

Twal to start at lock and Peachey to replace him after 20 minutes with Twal going to prop.

Luc can cover edge backrow and probably in the middle as well. He also gets used as an impact player.

Seyfarth is one of the first picked if I picked the team even if he is on the bench.

I think peach may play centre to start the year and then migrate to 14 when Doueihi comes back. They might start Doueihi in centres to get some more match fitness and then after that, who knows. Musgrove, Seyfarth and Joffa also on the bench.

I wonder if Doueihi will come back in the 14 role. He would be dangerous coming on mid half

Interesting idea. If Hastings and Brooks form a good partnership, and if Gildart and Tupou fire in the centres as I think/hope they will, 14 might be the spot, at least to start with.

I have been surprised by the number of Tigers fans that have opted for Musgrove, I just don't see it. He came to us as a fringe first grader more known for his on field discipline issues and off field brushes with the law. Since he has been with us, the only thing he has shown is that he is very good a giving away silly penalties and slow line defence, I still don't see him as a first grader.

Man hasn't been able to string a lot of games together. I am willing to back him this year.

The all stars game showed what he’s capable of, then injury, it happens, hopefully ‘22 is his year?

World's lightest/smallest bench

Once starting front row is sorted then Bench will fall into place.
As our squad is right now it will be interesting to see who takes the other starting prop role with Uto. Choices are either Musgrove, Mikaele, Twal, Offa, or Tamou, and from these it would have to be Twal. Maybe if Musgrove can step up, but I'm not sure he will, we could start Twal at lock and then bring Peach in after 20mins and Twal goes into Prop rotation. In this scenario my bench would be:
Peach, Mikaele, Seyfarth, & Tuilagi (or Luc if he's still here). I have Garner and Blore as starters in second row.
I don't see Tamou deserving a run and Offa is my 18th man.
Musgrove may prove that we don't need a quality starting prop partner for Uto and as much as Thompson would be good, he's not worth $800K to us.
