I have defended Madge until now, his loyalty to useless players will cost him his job, and if he is too stubborn to change this then he needs to go. If he continues with Brooks as halfback he should go, the guy is killing us. I live in NZ but will gladly pay to drive Brooks out of the club to Canterbury or Newcastle and Madge with him if he can't see how bad he is as a half.

Nutsy, what do you think he can do with Brooks?
His only choice really is to make him a star reserve grader or pay him big dollars to play at another club?

I can tell you now,sacking Madge will only satisfy the supporters that want him gone...The club has been a cesspool for 10 years in regard to player recruitment,overspending and leaving a cap salary the Reserve Bank Of Australia couldnt fix in the same time its taken WTs...
All people have to realise is that things always get worse before they get better and we are in that zone right now...just as an example,Blair,highly paid but once out of the Melb system into ours proved worthless,Matalino,Packer,J,Rey,Mbye all big contracts for very little output,they wanted to play for Ivan and he left us high and dry...the in between moments eg,Farah Potter cant coach,JT Farah has to go,Benji to RU in NZ...can you guys see the depth of garbage that has gone on here,even last year the players were at the coach for being to HARD,what a joke...
Madge comes along and says we need change,cleans the floor,Mbye packer Reynolds gone,cap starting to get better and dont forget Pascos fines and suspension..Madge had to find players to make up a squad,what he has is merely to make up the numbers until we can AFFORD quality players,we have 2 starting next year...from next year things will get far better....Im still on Madges side this year....

Oh, he’ll do very well in cup, and the more I think about it the more I like the idea. Would be a great idea for him to get a few games in cup, revisit his career goals, put his foot on the throttle and stop acquiescing, enjoy his footy.

Echoing what's been mentioned already, but get a caretaker for the rest of the year after we get beat by Parra and Souths (cayless/gardiner). Then get Morris, Woolfe or even Flanno for next year. Damage is getting worse for the clubs image...

Agree with everything here....
People forget how far back we've been paying players to play somewhere else...
When you're starting behind - It doesn't take 12 months to catch up.

On top of that, I think a good part of our squad is spineless - And can't handle any adversity....
That also goes a long way back - We've never had any metal, Any dogged winners....
Even in our better years...

We finally get a dogged worker in, The players turn their toes up and we've got to sack him....
I honestly don't care if it takes him another 5 years to clear them all out and build the squad, We've been overpaying pretty boys for far too long and it needs to stop sometime - Why not now

It can still be done - Parramatta bought the likes of Foran, Watmough & Jennings on the back of years of Garbage....
Build the cap space and whack a couple big fish - From there it gets easier.

A coach has to develop a team and squad that will perform within the ranks of the NRL,the worlds toughest Rugby League comp...to do this the players must have the ability to compete at that level and to their highly paid salary...Madge has been known to be tough,BUT its a tough game with high demands and standards,trying to make up a team of young inexperienced players with some near to end of careers players can be an awefully hard job to get them all on the same page...
This is the situation on hand right now,young guys learning,experienced players not up to task anymore and others just putting in enough to stay in the top 17,if Madge were to drop players he has to go to the depth and find he hasnt the quality to replace the ones he drops,its a bad situation left to him by years of garbage spending with no accountability...
Madge for all the crap he cops is trying to make this club and team a respectable,competative unit and in doing so still backs the underperforming,mistake riddled mob we call a team...
I cant understand that Madge gets the blame for top lined players giving away stupid penalties,making dumb mistakes,passing the ball forward and watching the ball roll over the sideline....the only way to win the game is to have possession of the ball,our team give it away at will..I think that what Stefano said a couple of weeks ago clears anything negative up in regard to Madges coaching...he stated "Madge gives us the tools and support to win games,the losses are on us,he is always approachable when we need assistance""....
So as far as Im concerned Madge has faults,but his loyalty to the club and his players is second to none...

Think madge causes to problems are team selections, tactics and think left some unhealed scars from being over the top last year.

By over the top i mean hiring his two buddies last year making it all about him. He has to go

Our team looked like a rabble against the Sharks. The impression I received is the commentators were shocked at how poorly the team performed and I am not referring to the score. The lack of urgency, fundamentals not at the NRL standard, near non existent kick chase and many of our senior players looking as though their confidence had been stripped away. In the warm-up, our players look lethargic and it was obvious we were in for a hiding. Even inexperienced players can chase, pass and look energetic.

I do not expect wins, but I do expect incremental improvement which has not happened. It has been the opposite, with the team regressing imo.

I get that people don't want to change coaches to avoid the whole reset situation that we've done repeatedly over the last decade. But there is no way in absolute hell anyone can defend this coaches ability to coach. Not a single way, and don't make a fool of yourself trying. The only reason he remains is to avoid the constant shuffling of coaches this club is a victim of over the last few years.
