Good Afternoon,
As our on-field season ends for 2021, we would like to take a moment to reflect on many of the positives that we have seen throughout the year.
Earlier this year, Adam Doueihi was nominated for the prestigious Ken Stephen Medal. Along with fellow Lebanon Test representative Alex Twal, Adam drove the club’s support of the Red Cross Beirut Appeal, passionately raising funds and awareness to assist with massive relief efforts. As a club, Wests Tigers raised much needed resources such as blankets, food items, clothing and health care needs which were sent directly to Adam’s hometown. His role in the campaign, as well as various other community endeavours, has earned Doueihi a nomination for the NRL's prestigious Ken Stephen Medal, with Wests Tigers Members and fans voting in large numbers for the local junior. The winner of the 2021 Ken Stephen Medal will be announced on Grand Final Day.
Away from the field, Wests Tigers have continued to strengthen our pathways program by the re-signing of Thomas Mikaele and Alex Seyfarth — both of whom came through the Wests Tigers junior development network. Mikaele has re-signed for the 2022 season while Seyfarth, a local junior of the club, has signed a two-year extension to keep him in Wests Tigers colours until the end of 2023.
While there were a number of disappointing injuries to finish the year, the positive news is that several players will return on schedule for the start of pre-season training in November. Thomas Mikaele (tooth), Daine Laurie (ankle), Luke Garner (ankle), Alex Seyfarth (knee), James Tamou (foot) and Zane Musgrove (foot) will all be right to resume training in the coming months, while Jake Simpkin and Adam Doueihi have both successfully undergone surgery for their respective injuries. Tommy Talau will consult a specialist following an ACL tear in the final game of the season, with the talented young centre aiming to return to the field in the early rounds of 2022.
Earlier this year, the club played in its first Women in League jersey since 2014 — chalking up a strong win over the Cowboys in Round 22. To show its appreciation for the contribution that female Members pay to the club, Wests Tigers sent a surprise player-worn jersey to 21 lucky Members. Congratulations to all the Members who received a jersey, and we hope that we can continue to provide many more acts of kindness in season 2022 and beyond.
Wests Tigers 2022 Membership program will commence in early October and the team have been working hard behind the scenes to provide Members with a number of new initiatives — the most exciting of which is a new rewards platform that provides discounts on everyday purchases. More information about the program will be released following the launch of the 2022 Membership program, so make sure you keep an eye on your inbox for all the latest updates.
Wests Tigers would again like to thank each one of its 19,669 Members for their ongoing support in what was another challenging year for people right across the country. We can’t wait to have you back on board to proudly show your stripes with us in 2022!
Kindest Regards,
Wests Tigers Membership Tea
