2022 RLWC

Poms 2 best Williams and Whitehead a former and current raider
Jerome Luia and Stephen Crichton masterful . Milford a few errors and missed tackles
I felt Herbie was solid too. Really like watching him play.

Mate I thought Milford was gonna lose it for them, with his kicking game. It was absolutely dreadful.

Would love to see if Luai stands over Cleary if they score a try like he does everyone else in the NRL.

I think it will be a cracker.

Australia have Teddy but the forward pack for Samoa are clicking into gear and they have the best meter eating wingers in the game. Dynamics wise Samoa could actually get this done. Australia struggled against NZ due to the game being played in the middle and slowed down. If it wasn't for a soft Murray try they probably don't win.
Can't see Australia making the same handling errors that the English made .....the one time a team applied the blowtorch ...England folded

Yeah, you'd say Samoa are as good as NZ on paper, and NZ were close to beating Australia

Typical Hometown Harry performance by Sutton reminiscent of our treatment at Slime Stadium against Pawwa. Only one team was being penalised in the first half and some of the calls in the second half were just diabolical (eg Luai offside and Paulo's push on the kicker).

People talking down Samoa's chances aren't watching. Samoa potentially has the best forward pack in the tournament and with To'o and May starting sets they have the two best metre eaters in rugby league. Luai is as classy a 5/8 as there is. Sualii is a massive handful as well. Big question mark around Milford, I probably start Tavita-Harris and have the Milf off the bench because he's too hit and miss. And the ref gave every decision to England, including a nonsense 10 in the bin and a roughing the kicker which were as soft as you see.

The player who we should go for is Tavita-Harris. Apparently he's retiring at 23?? He's a quality versatile player who plays classy and with effort.
Nah, Samoa have 0 chance. Their final was against England today...

Exactly as I see it, making the final was equal to winning the final.
Sitting ducks for an Aussie smash up next week.
x100

I mean they should rightly celebrate but it felt like they had won the world cup (Samoa that is).

Australia beat NZ in a nail biter too but they were still somewhat subdued...

Aussie best still to come. Been very low key thus far but expecting them to go up a few levels this week.

Samoa were great and deserved to win. We were very average against NZ and only won because of some 50/50 calls. It's going to be a close game.

What do you see as their weakness?

They are a better team than England and probably equal to or better than NZ because of having about equal forward pack and better outside backs. Maybe they will get smashed by Australia, but on paper they're as good as any of the other teams.

You get three hitups every set from To'o, May and sualii, as good as any team has ever fielded in terms of backs making metres up the middle, you have premier props in Paulo and papalii, you have class of luai controlling attack and an attacking brand of football emphasising 2nd phase play that troubled Australia when they played NZ. A more disciplined effort today and Samoa would have won comfortably, they were by far the better side. Their only weakness is at half and hooker, and their players there aren't massive liabilities.

Sure, Australia is the best team in this world cup, but Samoa are no flukes in this final and are as good a challenge as any other. Australia will win if their defensive line can control Samoan ruck speed and if their more mobile forwards play off each other through the middle targetting halfback-centre space of the Samoans. But I can also see Samoas dynamic forward pack opening the game up for luai to create magic.

It would be the culmination of taumalolo's brave decision to join Tonga if that comes off. I don't see why you are dismissing Samoa.

Honest answer please..Does anyone else think no hate for his dad in the answer that Nathan clearly tends to choke in big games. ?

I never said Samoa is a bad side but they don’t have any chance against Australia. I don’t disagree with anything you said, just our different opinion is that I don’t think Samoa have a chance.
I think most people , myself included will be hoping Samoa win for the good of international Rugby league…but still a long way to go for league to improve on a competitive level on the international stage…

Agree with the above. Should be a great final match.

As I watched some of the Australia v New Zealand game, I thought to myself, gee the ref doesn't want the Kiwis to win this one.
Then I learn in this morning's news that the NZ team was booked to fly out straight after the game...

"New Zealand captain Jesse Bromwich blasted World Cup organisers for being "disrespectful" after it was revealed the Kiwis had been pre-booked to fly out of England the day after their semi-final.

The forecast by World Cup officials that New Zealand would not qualify for the final came to fruition in a 16-14 defeat to Australia on Saturday (AEDT), but the Kiwis are ropeable at the presumptuous call to book their flight home from Manchester.

Bromwich vented at the decision as he addressed the media following New Zealand's semi-final exit at Leeds' Elland Road."
