Lol Cleary doesn’t do what he did and they lose comfortably.Agreed. He let a try in and was playing ordinary...
That last 20 minute effort though. Brillant. but it wasn't all him. Ivan coaches well so that Nathan has to only do half the job well.
Ezra man, THAT WAS ALL HIM. Take him out and it goes from a close game to a wipeout. It was Reynolds too to win or loose and amazingly his kicking game was off.
IMHO medal should have gone to someone else.
One of Mitch Kenny, Moses Leota or Liam Martin.
That said, BEST MATCH OF THE SEASON. hands down.
They were gone. When the dust settles Penrith will know they got out a little lucky with this one.
61 missed tackles conceding 6 line breaks with 10 more sets.
Brisbane only played well for 25 minutes and then choked.
Haven't seen a full strength Penrith team carved like this for a few years in a big game.
They looked spent.
What did people think of the Adam Reynolds captains speech?
Seemed a bit classless not mentioning the opposition and what they had achieved.
For clarification, see some of Cameron Smith’s speeches when he was the loser for QLD and Melbourne. Some of the best ever.
But it wasn't all Cleary.Lol Cleary doesn’t do what he did and they lose comfortably.
HE dragged an elite team over the line against a young confident side with its tail well and truly in the air.
Easily the best individual performance I’ve seen in a GF since Joeys first 40 against Parra in 2001.
But it wasn't all Cleary.
The Broncos got a borderline try with Fledger. (man that was a real benefit of the doubt call). Then it was all Ezra man from the Donkeys.
of the 4 Penrith tries:
I credit Cleary for half the tries. He also missed a key tackle, overshot one kick (who doesn't).
- Mitch Kenny 17' -- Solo effort after a failed catch by Brisbane.
- Moses Leota 62' -- Cleary, great pass inside to his Forward.
- Stephen Crichton 67' -- Solo effort after a good pass (Cleary was in there somewhere, but no real numbers on that side)
- Nathan Cleary 76' -- goes it himself and gets it.
Moses Leota, Issac Yeo and Liam Martin really pounded muscle against a very tough forward pack.
Both To'o and Tuvela took up an occasional carry and ran the ball forward, which says a lot about those wingers.
Cleary performed well and it was clearly a hard fought game. Ezra man IMHO did the individual performance of the match though. It wasn't a DCE or Johns masterclass is halfbacking though.
Can highly reccomend - late to bed late to rise and eateries/bars, town squares, buzzing with people socialising every night of the week.Cracker of a game. Jealous I'd love to visit Spain.
Got it taped Jad. Not one for watching replays usually - unless the the Tigers hag a win ' but this one I've got to see - backed up by you and my three sons and just about everyone else I know.Cleary was dynamic in the last 20,donkeys were on top and punching holes in the panthers defence.Cleary just grabbed the game by the throat and got them home, seriously the best HB performance i have seen for a very very long time.
When you get back just sit back and enjoy the replay
That’s just because people get carried away. An exciting game doesn’t always mean the standard the great. It usually isn’t.Still cant believe Penrith did the comeback with Yeo in HIA and Luai out injured. Then the final try with Tago injured.
Ivan Cleary has bred some different type of monsters there.
However I disagree with people saying "best GF ever".. the first half was absolutely dog crap
True but it might be the best second half I've seen GF since 2005. Pretty awesome. The players get so nervous that GFs are usually more dull games than during the season. However I disagree with people saying "best GF ever".. the first half was absolutely dog crap
I am so bad. Just after Broncos reached 24 I said "There you are. Proof that Cleary is a myth! The guy's a flat track bully".
A few minutes later he makes a break and sets up a try. Then the 40/20. Then the solo try. I'm looking pretty shite at this point lol
Fine, he's a great NRL player but has never come close to doing what Lewis, Langer, Johns, Thurston and Sterling have done in Origin.
To me, that means he is a long way behind all of those guys until he can win a series or two for his state like those players did.
