2025 Centre Options - What is our best centre pairing?

Olam and Toa
As far as I can see I'd say these two. On his day (which I think might coincide with Halley's Comet), I'd have Naden in the mix.

Really no idea how the squad's centres have not been strengthened more (Olam I like) in recent seasons.

Been banging on about this for years, but I will say again that Garrick is available for 2026 and they should target him. He's versatile, a great player and importantly an excellent goal kicker.

It feels we're perpetually pinning hopes on very young players (we fans) like Makasini to come good, but the squad needs depth and competition to earn a place in the team.

Right now, if you're even a half decent centre at the club you're in first grade.

Depth, competition, players having to earn and then hold positions.

I hope it’s not A.D as well. We were the weakest team defensively in 2024. All mentioned A.D because he is in all the experts R1 teams. Personally I’d like him to find a club where he has a shot at 5/8.
Completely agree. Doueihi is simply not NRL standard in my opinion.

But he is a tiger, so hopefully in a few months time I can gladly eat my words.

1.Bula
2.Skelton
3.Olam
4.Toa
5.Turuva

or

1.Bula
2.Luke L
3.Olam
4.Skelton
5.Turuva

Thats the best 2 line ups. Although I think Luke at 4 foot 3 is too small to be a winger in current year. He isnt the exception like To'o

However, being a Tigers team with their low IQ track record of naming sides, week 1 will prob look like -

1. Bula
2. Shit Stains
3. Doohey
4. Naden
5. Fitzhenry

Omg!!! AD, and Naden. Imagine running with those two?
A lazy turnstile who thinks he’s a 5/8, and a brain explosion waiting to happen.
We still have some roster issues but these two shouldn’t be here next year at all.
I would prefer Naden in the centres over AD. Hopping the brain farts have been exercised out?
But 2 goals from AD conteracts the try he lets in? Ha ha.

I’m backing Bula to go to the next level at fullback with Jarome and Galvin in the halves.
However here is an alternative backline.

1. Turuva
2. Luke L
3. Bula
4. Olam
5. Skelton

I think we may see this for the first part of 2025.

1. Bula
2. Luke L
3. Turuva
4. Olam
5. Skelton

People hate it but I still think unless Bird moves into Centre that Doueihi is the best option.

I'd play Bird right beside him in defence though.

The club isn't strong enough to not play their best skilled players. Doueihi is one of the most talented players in the squad.

My only other option is Latu. He has to be in the squad at some stage as well.

Doueihi's goal kicking cannot be overlooked. Not like we are packing 4 options out there.

And- without a tackle busting backrower playing on the edge- we probably need a tackle busting centre outside him instead.

Yes, the weigh up has to be between Adam’s poor defence and his effective strike in attack.
Why they can’t work on his ability to defend when it has been a glaring weakness his whole time here is maddening.

Safe to say we don't share the same opinion on Doueihi! 😂

No problem with that. 🙂

I think his biggest failing is his 'need' to play Hero-Ball.

Hopefully with a bigger dawg in the kennel (Luai), Doueihi fits back into his lane.

Until Doueihi starts to commit himself in defence there should be no position for him in the 17.I would even have Naden ahead of him despite his chronic brain farts.Sadly both of these players have a long history of getting it wrong

While I understand the frustration, I'd argue that for the first 2 of his 5 seasons at the Tigers he was our best attacking player. Then injuries hit him for the following 3 seasons. Even in 2022, you could argue he was one of our best.

Doueihi is partially a victim of recency bias. I think we tend to forget what he does well because it's been a little while (through unfortunate circumstances) since we saw his best.

Whereas I am sure his biggest failing is his defence in general, with him dropping out of the defensive line to fetch his mouth guard instead of waiting for a stoppage or turnover a close second.

Can he play wing?

Doueihi career moving forward is a worry for me that knee blew up again towards the end of the season not confident that game after game it will stay sound.

He just can't read the attackers.
No idea who to defend, confusion under pressure, no shoulder tackles, will my winger help, is an intercept on? etc.
He can't be taught, it's too hard for him. Beyond help....... go somewhere else please. Free up a top 30 spot.

I'm cool with it too 😊

Yeh totally agree he often tries to do everything...except chase! 😂

Why, don’t 5/8s need to tackle !
IMO his best position with us would be right centre, with Olam on his preferred left side.
Although Ive heard from someone that Star is working back into calculation so I’m interested to see trial teams and R1 announcement.

Now there you go again Winny, taking the name of the great D. Fitzhenry in vain.
One of our greatest ever wingers, well sort of 🤣🤣🤣.
