2026 pre season

We haven't had a character like TDM at our club since having Liam Fulton and Bryce Gibbs around. Bit of a maverick, comfortable doing it in his own way. A team like ours needs that personality in the sheds. And he's absolutely brilliant on the pitch. My favourite player in this team.

Not sure what the full story is but I trust he's going to turn up and play well when the season starts.
Both the May brothers are gonna have big years I feel. Just hope everyone else can keep up!

-KPP & To'a on the right side.
-To'a still wearing that arm/elbow compression aid.
-Sione Fainu looks more athletic this pre-season. Will not surprise if he becomes our starting lock.
-A lot of pre-season training images/content of Masi & Godinet. Godinet smokey for an NRL debut in '26?
Sione looks in unbelievably good shape hey

Godinet in an interview said he will debut in 26 and asked Benji what he had to do I like the confidence and he wants to debut as an 18 year old so let's see how good he is

Godinet still worries me insofar the better he performs our good mate; Mr Moses will shop him around to any club outside of the WT.
He is signed for 2026 - 2027 so most likely the prolonged shopping spree starts November this year.
Here we go again, months of speculation, will he or won't he? He loves the club. We gave him the opportunity etc. Benji is great. 400 forum pages of scenarios by the well informed.
I'm dreading it already.
Fingers crossed if we string some good wins together, he gels with the other players, he can see a future here.

I'd be wary about developing any young player from our catchment area that isn't a Tiger.

Phoenix has stated multiple times that he's a Parra supporter and was hurt that he didn't make it.

I can think of three other players that had that same sentiment - Moses, Galvin and Da Silva.

Moses/Cove has a lot of good young talent in our club. From the ones I know - Bula, Sukkar, Godinet, Leatigaga, Peter Taai, & Finau brothers in Matts.

Shows how bad Parra’s identification of talent is really
Btw TDS was our junior and a tigers fan growing up

Possibly, but that also shows that we’ve been mugs under HBG. We’ve developed great talent and lost them for no return.

TDS is a Cambo boy, but he mentioned that he followed the Eels whilst growing up in his first pre-game interview.

And Sharon Woods grew up supporting Manly ...
Phoenix is so conflicted he's become a mirror image of himself

You reckon? Compared to who?
How many players you reckon they're lamenting losing when they look at other Squads?

Our best 17 in the last 10 years are mostly playing at other clubs,
Most of them came through our Junior Ranks.

The Eels are much better than us at keeping retention where it should be,
Their good kids are mostly kept in the Lower Grades,
and they get no where near the amount of Juniors on Dud top 30 deals as we do.

Mate I’m not arguing any of that. It’s just a constant theme where Parra juniors talk about being rejected by them at a young age. To then want them back once they’ve developed into first graders. For some reason their identification of blue chip juniors has been way off. Like the poster above said Moses, Galvin, Godinet are examples of it. We identify them but don’t retain them - a different issue.

I have said many times before the West Tigers are the organ donors of the NRL

Hard to say,
To be fair - Hindsight is a wonderful thing when forming an outside opinion.
You've named 3 - Covering the last 15 or more years.

People are critical to Parra for not identifying and hanging onto a 15yr old Galvin,
But I've never seen it considered, They also had Taulagi and Sanders Poached in recent years.
(Both ahead of Galvin)
Dylan Brown (another Elite Half) is only 5 years older than them 3 Boys, A Parra Junior they made a good offer to keep.

Again,
In hindsight they've ended up with none - But 5 years ago when they lost Galvin,
Where was he ever going to play for them?

Moses is a reasonable argument (With Hindsight) but in 2009-10 when he was 13...
Who would know.

Godinet has a long way to go to have proven anything...

Can understand losing them all if Brown & Moses were locked in but both had a heap of get out clauses. They were willing to play Taulagi at fb regardless to keep him but just didn’t work out. Obviously they’ve realised and learnt from it, signing Pezet for a year to allow high prospect Lorenzo to come through rather than lose him.

All the hype over Godinet guys just don't do it to yourselves, how many times have juniors been talked up as the next big thing only to disappoint us.

I'm going to reserve judgement until he hits 1st grade and see if he shows some good signs of potential, same as Makasini did.
Yeah but Rocky Trimachi, Mania Cherrington, Keith Eshman and Matt Groat are gonna be immortals. Guaranteed.
