'23 trials

Reece Walsh is the standout nrl player of the trials for me.

Graham was good for the Sharks in both defense and attack

Mahoney was good for the Bulldogs when on for his short stint.

My Top 3 from the weekend. Have excluded the all star game.

Yes the all stars was as I expected …. really the best quality game of the weekend. The rest was just Trials stuff you would expect.

Enjoyed the Storm v Roosters trial game, interesting seeing the nrl quality the Rooster had come on in the 2nd half against abunch of rookies.

The speed the Broncos played in the 1st half was scary.

Had a quick look at next weeks trials. I knew we had Raiders just looking at the other games, have to say there is a real good chance we may come last in this tournament. Its clear that Sheens doesn’t care about the result of this tournament for the club otherwise we would’ve had a stronger squad for our game against the Warriors.

Now we have Raiders and that’s always a tough battle. I’m expecting a stronger team than what we named in Round 1 but I hope to god if there is one that the defence majorly improves from us in the next game. I know Sheens has always been an attack coach, but it doesn’t matter if you score 30 points if you can’t prevent the opposition from scoring 36. If we do lose to the Raiders next week we will be pegged for the favourites again to win the spoon and honestly, if we do come last I may even accept that we may get back to back spoons. We certainly aren’t making the 8. The only way if we do lose next week to avoid last place, we have to hope that Souths put a cricket score on the Dragons and have a worst PD than us. I hope the boys lift next week but with Sheens back at the helm I’m not holding my breath. Its clear he didn’t even bother to try and fix the mistakes that cost Madge his job. So far Sheens has not been an upgrade.

Madge will be on the Raiders bench like he was today so may see a spring in some steps.

I expect a different side next week & we see most nrl top players for us. Stef, Naden and Laurie looked sharp which are positives maybe the rest of the top line squad do as well.

Hey at least we know it can’t get worse and in 3 weeks we will improve on the ladder, St Helens leave so at worst we will be 17th.
