Api did some really good things and won us the game with his goalkicking but he is an elite 9 and he should be played there.

Reilly did well and made a great critical tackle.

Twal Blore and Pole offer a lot more upside going forward then Bateman and Klemmer, finally coaching is improving players. Papalii will show more with decent halves and a centre around him. Love to see Olakalatu arrive. The outside backs need fixing, Naden, Toa, Nofo Tupou and Kepaoa all have too many problems in their games,

It's amazing to me. I thought he'd reached his very capable peak years back. Superb.

Twal was 13 hit ups 155 metres 44 tackles 0 missed btw. He was our best player today by a mile and the decision to start him over Klemmer proved very astute. If Benji is going to make assertive calls like that instead of playing favourites he has my vote of confidence.

Honestly our bench Mystified me this year.

Twal, Joe O... Not two guys who you both have on the bench.
It honestly felt like "hey we have our best forwards up, and when they get injured or tired our second rate can have a go.' Now Twal has had an awesome season in a team coming 17th. If everyone lifted like Twal has lifted, MAN we would be playing finals.

Klemmer did not do too badly, but I get it. Lets have a wrecking ball on the bench and inject some punch when we need it.

Lots of effort from quite a few today.
Twal carried the ball well and was very solid in D. Kepaoa had one if his best games to date. Reilly did well apart from not using his support when he should have. Bula and Laurie were good as well.
Simpkins had probably his best game with us and Api did what Api does and competed in all aspects of the game.
Pole and Seyfarth both played strongly, as did Paps.
All in all it was a good team effort lead by our relentless Skipper.

Totally agreed with the outside backs. We need to fix our back line.
Tupou has been caught out so many times this season. His idea of going between the winger and center for the intercept today was just rank dumb. ...

Kepaoa did have a good game and Reilly did well.
Hoping Naden can get a good season with us. 2022 he was one of our best players and injury has ruined him this year. IMHO I am glad he is in our team... but like you said we need to work on our back line.
Buttersoft defense,
no combinations
No attacking flow.

I would actually pair Center/wings and if one falls out, take the other player to reserve grade. Get 2 people defending well together and trusting each other. Our backline is just woeful.


Bula is awesome but a first year Fullback. We get caught out so much and in part he doesn't know what to look for... That said, a huge talent.

Props to Pole, Klemmer and all the forwards who did their job and the backs who did not get up. Tupou needs to work on defense... DEFENSE!
