3-2-1 3 2 1 vs Titans

Sorry I have to disagree. I have been a fan of Matamua. I have quietly held hopes of him developing. However he was ordinary today. His complete lack of effort that resulted in the Titans 2nd try highlights what he has been producing the last 2 years. That moment is simply not good enough. I'm very happy Benji hooked him immediately. I'm not writing him off, but he dropped significantly today with that one horrendous play.

Seyfarth came on at lock and looked a world beater compared to Matamua.
Matamua and Pole have moments where they mentally clock off in every game. It's unacceptable.

3. Api - lead from the front
2. Olam - two tries and some important tackles
1. Utoikamanu - got team moving forward and played some big minutes

Some other good performers including Sezer, Bula, Fainu and Seyfarth - he cops plenty on here, sometimes deserved, but plays with a lot of heart

OK the Gold Coast aren't a competition benchmark but a win is a win, particularly with an inexperienced side and Ashley Klein as referee. Better ball control and discipline pleasing. Nine line breaks conceded not so much

I think having Matamua on shows what we need out of a lock. He links the play really well with some pretty crisp passing both directions. That defensive effort was unforgivable however and unfortunately he offers no running threat. If he can fix up these things there is a lot to offer.
