Your summaries of the players, though slightly harsh, are nonetheless fair. However, I would add that, if we had a half decent halfback, most of the players you describe would be better, even play starring roles at times. Our outside backs are totally shackled by poor play on the inside and have little opportunity to shine. Give them some clean ball and space like they were in the second half yesterday and they will show their real potential. The Tigers have approached some of the best halves in the game about joining a rebuild in recent times. I think it’s important to highlight exactly the job they would have in front of them. These are the weapons currently at our halfbacks disposal.
Staines - Fullback - A second string winger at his previous club, he’s played less than 10 first grade games at fullback. Unproven and undersized for the position. He played quite well on the weekend just gone and probably locked up that spot for the next month at least.
Kepaoa - Winger - Has been moved from centre to wing, back to centre, to back row , back to centre and back to wing. Has struggled with positioning and his hands let him down too often. Doesn’t lack in effort but execution is inconsistent. Has become a fan favourite but if we’re honest we will need to upgrade to become competitive.
Naden - Centre - was on the outer at Penrith after he took an illicit substance in grand final week. Seems very injury prone and mixes some good attacking performances with a lot of errors. His inability to bust tackles is disappointing given his size.
To’a - Centre - Moved on from a disappointing Knights team and hasn’t locked down a spot at Wests Tigers, the worst backline in the NRL. Against the Eels he showed an inability to time his run on simple backline movements. It will be important the Tigers upgrade at this position.
Tupou - Winger - the shining light in the backline at the Tigers. Had a breakout game against Parramatta in just his 8th first grade game. Every Tigers fans hopes he’s not a flash in the pan, but it’s still very early.
Doueihi - Five eighth - at souths he was a backup fullback and centre and was moved on to the Tigers on a big money deal without a known position. Tried at fullback and centre and then shifted into the halves and has been inconsistent since he arrived. Unfortunately a third ACL rupture may cut short his career.
There’s no doubt this backline is holding us back and is not going to help us sign another marquee #7.
This is the kind of ‘out of the box’ ideas we need to get back to the top! Great suggestionHmm, Tiger weapons.
Why don't we actually put real tigers on the field! Cmon it's time to actually scare some of the other teams.
I reckon actual tigers would beat Even sharks on the turf!
The service from the 6 and 7 has been like watching under 8's. The slow dumpy clumpy catch and pass is just embarrassing. The opposition wingers and centres are already up in their counterparts face by the time the ball finally gets over there.Your summaries of the players, though slightly harsh, are nonetheless fair. weak postOne of our halves put Naden into a gaping hole yesterday and all he had to do was fall over the try line but in some sort of bizarre moment, possibly he had a mini-stroke, he managed to throw a forward pass into row eight behind the dead ball line. For every Brooks basher on this forum there should be a basher of our other morons.
Blore is just as useless as the rest of them. Never shown a thing, same Tommy Talau syndrome, no idea what they do at training and extra curricula activities in the changerooms but for some reason they are a coaches favourite. Are you sure you’re not referring to the masterful passing of Shawn Blore. I think his head fell off and someone replaced it with a pumpkin. Sure give it to the halves but don’t forget their teammates are quite shit also.
This is why I don’t go around quoting Luke Brooks winning percentages, he might be lead muppet but one of the only players interested in playing with the rest of our muppets.
The first win is coming brother!Haha if you want to hear about our excellent roster just ask our deluded Chairman.
Of course you cant. It still goes back on the halves for not setting up the tries. That was the biggest load of crap I’ve ever attempted to read. Using statistics to judge rugby league teams and players is highly unreliable. Rugby League success is ultimately about effort and execution at pivotal moments. Two things that don’t show up on stats sheets. Anyone who watched Thurston play would understand why he was great, simply because he was always there.
He's signed until the end of 24When’s Turbro Tupou signed till? Hope the brains trust are not gunna let him slip while on holidays.
thankfully with the bye there's a chance Naden is back in time for Manly or Penrith. he's the right sided centre moving forward. right wing is where the biggest question mark lies. Nofo's attitude is horrendous, To'a is a reserve grader and after that we have nothing.I think the left side is quite capable and if given a few games together could be quite formidable. Staines, as you said, is a reasonable stop gap. The right side..... good luck.
