$50 Million reason Wests Tigers are prepared to quit Campbelltown.

It’s not a grounds fault that we’ve had a team that’s sucked.
It’s the designers of the grounds fault , why the sound goes through there out one side . The designers fault that there’s next to no cover . It’s the community’s fault that most go to those games and treat it like a picnic in the park ( me included when I take my kids, that’s a shot at myself) .
It’s the ground announcer/ DJ fault that he’s soo shit at reading the crowd , that halfway through a close match , there’s a real lack of engagement regardless the score .
Mate like I’ve said heaps , that ground is infinitely the closer of the 2 . I would love to live in a world where those criticisms are incorrect but they’re not . And it’s been like that since forever . I remember going there in 2010 and thinking the same things . There’s something missing .
So rather shrug and say it is what it is , I’d rather be more objective than that and try and fix it . I want that area to be as passionate and expressing that intensity. I want when the chant goes up for tigers , the whole ground kicks in , rather than pockets here and there , because everyone is trying to lift the team . And here’s another point . When the chant does up you get dinosaurs saying “wests” instead of tigers , undermining everything I’m saying. I actually go to these games a lot . And I want this too succeed . It you have to acknowledge the problems to fix it .

No noise? Probably because most are away fans. The West never got behind their team.

GNR playing the game saying "it's not the grounds fault" as if that's the argument being made.

There is simply no enthusiasm to be there from fans or players. It's depressing. 17k a few times? Probably gave out free junior tickets.

At the end of the day, the debate doesn’t matter anymore. The club is doing what it should have done years ago, and no amount of complaining will change it. There’s always going to detractors no matter they do.

I went to my first Campbelltown game this year against the Warriors, and I know exactly what you mean by no noise. I attended all games at LO this year except the pre season trial but I heard no noise from the Tigers fans that were there that night. Only time you heard from them was when we scored a try, or if they felt Warriors got a BS penalty. When we were down at LO the crowd was making noise trying to get their team back into it (except those last 5 minutes against Cowboys that’s the only time they didn’t). No one in the crowd was trying to start a chant or anything to try and rally them to victory but against the Sharks and Titans and at the start of the Cowboys game at Leichhardt we were chanting to get them back into it. Even the announcers were quiet at Campbelltown only time you heard them was when points were scored, even he didn’t try to start a chant. As you said there’s little to no enthusiasm and atmosphere like there is at Leichhardt. I hope it’s fixed moving forward especially once the renovations are done, otherwise it’s really no different to how it is now.

Campbelltown blows. The stadium and the area. Miserable place.

Stadium is definitely poor I just hope the renovations make it semi decent. As for the area itself I don’t know for sure. I remember I was there in 2015 for a potential job, all I remember was every shop I went past had broken windows and police talking to the owners. Apart from the game, I haven’t been back since.

You realise it’s more than likely the same announcer right?
I’ve had plenty of quiet games at Leichhardt too - as well as electric ones at Cambo.
Our problem at Cambo is we can’t win out there - and that’s not Cambos fault, it’s ours!!
We’ve lost so many unloveable games out there - going back more than a decade.
Win some games and there’ll be an atmosphere at games there - no doubt.

The vibe is certainly different in the street and the area when there’s a game at Leichhardt - but getting the crowd into the game, the team performance has to accept some responsibility for that.

Each LO game I’ve been to always had the same announcer I don’t know his name but recognise his voice. It was definitely a different bloke that night, but maybe he was sick or not available and the other guy just filled in that night if I go again at some point I’ll see if it’s him. I’ve only gone to one game at LO where I thought it was quiet that was in 2022 you can probably guess why, rest of them crowd was loud and passionate. Like I said I’ve only been to one Campbelltown game but it was a quiet game despite losing by 2 and the crowd didn’t try to get the team home yet I could hear the Warriors fans chanting for them. It’s definitely different between the 2 grounds. I do agree the team not winning has to accept some responsibility, but shouldn’t the crowd be getting involved when it’s a close game to get them home or at least try? That didn’t happen that night against the Warriors.

I feel sorry for the ground announcer. Imagine trying to liven a crowd up when their team is getting pumped. And not only that, you have to maintain a cheery, cheesy disposition. Imagine the glutton you’d have to be want that job.

Wasn't Leichhardt getting the same?
Yes, but that's just games at LO v CSS. There's lots of ways to interact with the club if you live in the inner west without travelling too far.
If you live in Campbo you just have the games

We're an inner city club. How is it a surprise we've havnt garnered support in the SW? Thankfully it's being addressed.

Does playing more games fix that though? Yes you’ll have more support but the COE will still remain at Concord, Wests Ashfield will still be the financial provider for the club, LO will still host games it can still be seen as an inner west club even if more games are played at Campbelltown.

That's the battle they have and why they are playing more games there than LO. At least we have the best in the business in charge.

I think either Wests Campbelltown need to get back on board, or they build a Wests Tigers leagues club in the area to help build the identity of the club. That might come later after the renovations but I don’t see it as having much luck without a financial provider in the area.

That would definitely help but would HBG give up some power?
A couple of campbelltown locals (not leagues club) reps on the Wests Tigers board wouldnt go astray either.

I don’t think HBG will give up any of their power, I’ll be surprised if they do. As for locals on the board while that might help to an extent without the financial backing that might not be as effective. Wests Ashfield will definitely cause headaches for the region, unless they do somehow give up their power or decide to sell to a private investor.

St george hospital

311m for the building and 26m for carparking.

A hospital with emergency wards, Life support devices, MRI, Cat scans, video cameras, etc etc etc. ...

Stadium: video cameras, seats, turn style and overpriced meat pies.

Just how are stadiums so damn expensive?
