What I find amazing is people mentioning Ramones, at that time I sort of never heard of them and now don't see anything special in them at all

They were instrumental in Punk starting after they played in England.
I would have thought you'd like lyrics like " Beat on the brat with a baseball bat" rather than "love, love me do".

I just checked them out again and found this beauty _I am not Jesus_. They must have put out one meek song that I hit the jackpot with years ago when checking them out for a puck chess mate.

In Byron I know family of Parkway Drive member - street sign of Parkway Drive was knocked off so many times that Council now only paints the name on the bitumen in big letters. If not for me they could not have been the same.

I saw Rodriguez last time he toured and have a ticket to see him next February, been a fan of his since my uni days. The Sugar Man documentary certainly expanded his fan base.

I was never really into punk nor understood it's rationale - I was too old basically. It was supposed to be a protest or reaction against rock well I loved rock. I disapprove how music divides people for the sake of it such as punk, hip hop ,rap, grunge.

Totally agree BBF, punk and the other music genres you mention above leave me dry too. I could never understand people's love of the Sex Pistols when they first came out. Suddenly it became cool to like grating music played out of tune and lead singers who couldn't sing a note after all the years of pure musicianship and once in a generation lead vocals as displayed by many of the artists already posted on here. I just didn't get it, but I guess it wasn't my 'protest era'. All that said, I was a bit partial to The Clash, thought they were actually pretty good

I used to play Jimi every day at Meadowbank hotel dukebox opposite Meadowbank Tafe where I was finishing high school. Along with Cream, Beatles White Album, Abbey Road, Bob Dylan

Geo's band cover of Thunderstruck

That made me laugh Happy, can see Geo tapping along in his grundies and uggs. :roll

They do some pretty mean covers

Guns N Roses songs as well , the banjo players pretty wicked and the drummer is pretty wild as well

I'd never heard of them until last night and then ended up listening to a whole concert and seeing they are touring the US as we speak

I could pick a bunch of Thin Lizzy tracks, but I'll go with this one.

Another great band who don’t get the recognition they deserve.

It’s funny how music has changed in regards to how frequently bands put out new music. For example The Doors between 67 and 71 put out 6 albums. I can name bands around today that have been around 20 years and don’t have that many albums.

A documentary on Arthur “Killer” Kane, the bass player from the New York Dolls. After they broke up in the 70’s, he formed a few other bands that went nowhere and not long after was living destitute. In the late 80’s became a Mormon and was living rent assisted. He then found out the Dolls were reuniting for a festival in England. He played it, and died from Leukemia a month later.
