60's and 70 Rock

Not sure why the 80’s is missing out. Plenty of great bands to emerge in that era

Guns
Metallica
Faith No More
Nirvana
RHCP
U2
Crüe
Skid Row

I know the thread title, I was saying the 80’s shouldn’t be forgotten either.

Thanks scoop. I know the thread title, I was saying the 80’s shouldn’t be forgotten either.

I wasnt really having a shot at you i mean there is always good music no matter what decade we talk about but i think that the 60's and 70's had the highest ratio of good to bad music. At the moment i would say that ratio is well and truly reversed

Nah, it’s alright, i overreacted. Hence I edited my post. I agree regarding the ratio. Absolute rubbish over the last 5-10 years.

Did someone mention Elvis. I dont listen to Elvis or own any of his music but he was the original COOL.

I might be a tad younger than some here (am mid 40’s) and got into 60’s and 70’s music well after it was released.

One of my favourite gigs was the first ever big day out, where nirvana were the 3rd act on the main stage.

After they absolutely killed it I got to watch the 2 headliners, Yothu Yindi & the violent femmes

My other fav was the big day out where headliners included Iggy Pop, the ramones and urge overkill. Did the driving dash to watch that in both Sydney & Melbourne

How about Roy Orbison. One of the greatest voices in music history.

Great voice but I found his music tame compared to rockers like Kinks, Beatles, Animals. He did one politically-inclined song Working For the Man, may have even been anti-Jewish.

Janis Joplin would knock Roy out for a six any day

1992? I remember seeing the Ramones at the Sydney BDO. It was just Joey and Johnny from the original band by then.

How is Working for the Man political or antisemitic? Seriously it's a bit early to be getting on the gear…

Spot on bro - started snorting already. Got Roy's Working for the Man mistaken for Cat Stevens Matthew and Son. They both mention slaving away for little pay.

here shows the Matthew/Jewish connection https://www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/matthews/6388/

Excellent songwriter/singer "Running Scared" was my favourite song of his.He lived a tragic life and it showed in his music

Very sad. He was tough though, he kept going on.
