Sure did, we are quickly moving towards a world which promotes individuality and self needs ahead of community and social needs. It scares me. It becomes easy to justify the murder of others because we can separate ourselves from it through countless means of segmentation; class, religion, culture, ethnicity, colour and so on.
It amazes me the reaction from these sorts of events are not, "Why did this event take place?" instead it's always a vengeful reaction. It's not even an eye-for-an-eye it's more like a eye-for-fourty-eyes….
But... look at the past, every period in time post 60's have the one issue / event / conflict which keeps the middle and lower classes of society scared.
I honestly believe this is coming to a end though, I can't see this world continuing as is. The worlds economies are anything but economic! This is more obvious than ever, the gap between the rich and everyone else is growing wider faster than ever.... ALL while the world is now facing food shortages, oil shortages, failure of the monetary system and climate change...
WW3? We are f...ked, hopefully what comes from the chaos is a more mature and social minded approach to civilisation... although I doubt it.
