9's Side

True Tiger newsflash The Potter and Skandalis days are over.

As GNR said the plan is to see him back for the Cronulla trial.

Tedesco doesn't lack confidence.

Jason Taylor and Keegan Smith are taking a professional approach and won't let players play just because they want to. Tedesco won't play in the nines and he may not even be ready for round 1.

Brooks and Tedesco both need to be kept away from this tournament.

If one or both get injured, I would imagine this site would go into meltdown.

I'm guessing the biggest problem is going to be how many of our marquee players are fit CB

Do we actually get to find who are marquee players actually are ??

We can't hold out a NRL season with minimal injuries :unamused: , but we want to risk our stars in a meaningless tournament 😱pen_mouth:

Irvine I dont disagree that JT and KEEGAN are taking a professional approach…If Teddy is so important as is every other player in the squad, when he does return even after the trials who is to say he doesnt get injured again, this is what we have been used to with Teddy, all the talent in the world just cant keep him on the paddock for long..

I really dont go much on the nines but as I said earlier anyone getting big dollars should be available to play where ever WTs choose to play them...

If JT wants to keep him until he is completely fully fit then that is a good thing..no arguement from me..I just dont think they should be kept in cotton wool, get out there when your fit and have a go.

We don't probably want to , but the club needs the money and we have to pick a certain number of marquee players

I still would like to see the NRL make it interesting , give the winning club an extra 500 k on their salary cap

Clubs would be clambering over themselves to pick their top squads

Yeah i know we have to give them some Marquee players but i would be keeping Brooks and Teddy far away from that Airport , hardly Marquee players just yet anyway .
Lawrence is a Marquee player

I don't think its " marquee" players, its just a certain number of the top 25 from each club, otherwise who determines who is a marquee and who isn't?

We'll send McDonnell as a marquee player

That is his perfect game to play … Speed and agility.

And no ruben wiki... I wait a second.... There are rumors about him coming back for the 9s...

Wow.. I am like some sort of clairvoyant !

“Mentally, I’m fine, ready to go,’’ Tedesco tells The Sunday Telegraph.

"Yet to train with the team — and having already ruled himself out of the Auckland Nines"

Good article to read. More importantly I would really love to see the team have a very smooth run with injuries this year.

The stretching comment is interesting to me as I remember Jason Taylor would spend hours a day stretching and believed it's why he never got injured even though physically he wasn't much chop. So I'd say that is a Taylor influence

I think that Brooks has been picked by Bennett to play in his team. So I'm guessing that he will be nowhere near the 9's.

Yep. We'll probably see the likes of Eli Levido and Te Maire Martin given a run in the 9's.

For those saying there is a risk of injury, the players involved will play under 60 minutes of football over 2 days with plenty or rest time in between. If they make the finals, then a little more than this.

The physical intensity with only 9 players is nowhere near as high as 13 a side.

There would be more risk in the trial matches leading up to the season or even the heavy workload during pre-season training.

The exception being players that are not 100%.

Is Seve back to full training?

He would be great getting on the outside of his defender in this format!

I hope Seve, heleta and Martin all get a run

Squad of 15 right?

**Backs**
Tim Simona
Kevin Naiqama
Kurtis Rowe
Josh Drinkwater
Te Maire Martin
Mitch Moses
Delouise Hoeter
Chris Lawrence
Chance Peni

**Forwards**
Robbie Farah
Manaia Cherrington
Sitaleki Akauola
Brenden Santi
Curtis Sironen
Martin Taupau (would go great but he played 4N so may need a bigger break)
Someone like Lamar Liolevave or Salesi Funaki would also be great. They run good damaging lines
