A call out to the students of the game...

The team that played today is more like the team Madge wanted,we still have AD,TT AJ to come back and it will be full steam ahead...Hastings is a master leader he showed that today...If he wasnt suspended for 3 matches we would be in a far better position,we would have won 2 of those games...things are starting to gel for Madge,I have said it before he is a good coach with an inept squad but now they are starting to realise whats needed to compete at this level...
I hope this has helped mate.....
No offence, but don’t agree. Madge could not use a bench to save his life. The way he used liddle and Luciano has been farsical. Noted not 80 minute players, yet used them this way, and wonders why they get sloppy and tired that leads to breaks and try’s to the opponent. That’s not the sign of a good coach, just an ignorant one, a great coach uses the players he’s got the best way he can! This genius keeps trying to ram a square peg into a round hole!
Look nice guy but crap coach, using the bench properly is a fundamental.
Also brooks a running 5/8, wow only took you four years to work out he’s not a controlling half, really took me 5 minutes on an interview to know he doesn’t have the brain power for that, yet four years for our rocket scientist.

Glad he got the win, but really....

The sweeping backline movements were in total contrast to what we've shown to date. There were some really complex formations, varied lines from forwards and it was lethal with Parra unable to stop us. If anything we had fewer chances this week then the last few but just always finished. I think we earnt those situations in prior games but just fell apart when we had the advantage.

I'm surprised at how much better we were. I'm surprised we have those backline movements in us.

This isn't sophisticated analysis but it must just be the impact Hastings had in orchestrating it.
Couldn’t agree more. Even if we didn’t win (which easily could’ve happened) it was so pleasing to see.

It wasn't that long ago when I said Simpkins service was poor and he was dropped.
The thing is he's a baby but obviously he's learning and today he was awesome.
Tragic that he got injured.
Next year he is going to be a great understudy to Kori and if retained will be be our number 1 hooker for a while.
Rua will be next....perhaps?
From what I’ve seen Rua is a genuine option to play 14 should probably be there. Can be a forward or play hooker energy and punch at the line. Having an extra half almost lost us the game tonight not a Smart Selection. Whether he got injured or not Simpkin was about done for gas. Still young for 80 in a fast game.

On your point Re Lucy, I’ve often read how critical everyone is of him playing longer minutes then required. But I’ve maintained it’s the best thing for his development. And frankly he is braining it now as an 80 min backrower. You don’t build that sustainability without being in the very situation to build it. Ie sitting him on the Pine for 20mins a game, does not expose him to managing the physical side of the game mentally when your body is giving up and you need to dig deeper for your 2nd or third wind.

That's why you always have a utility on the bench like peachey [unfortunately he's been disappointing] and Rua would be good.
Tonight we saw Gardner show he can be a centre or backrower.
Don't forget though, Rua only had that trial form so far and whilst he was strong his decisions weren't 100%.
He will develop over tine for sure.
Good to see we have at least one player coming through though 👍

Putting em on their backs and our play the ball speed stood out for me today.

This is a trait in all the top.sides.

Yep agree, I've been saying we don't need a new coach, we need stability and that's something we haven't had for a long time.
We need to slowly build our roster without causing disharmony.
When Hastings was signed last year people were saying, 'he played in an inferior league'
Well I remember how he was cocky but good at both Roosters and Manly.
He was a star in the making and it got into his head.
We know the rest of the story.
We have the makings of a good side.
We know we have 2 good players coming next year.
I'm confident that we will sign more.
What we need is stability and build slowly but surely to make a go of it in 2023.

I liked Brooks captain and some great defense from him. Like him complaining to the referee, we need to be seen and heard,it's a good look for the team.

Brooks played well because obviously he enjoyed not being the playmaker and wider.

Noffo looked classy and a winner as did Roberts and Laurie.

Thought Tamou and Twal had their best ever games for the club. To'a looks the goods.

Liked our depth but still too many passes not hitting their mark.

We were rorted.

And we still backpeddled in defense often.....and still won.

Jacko and Simpkin both really got the forwards running onto the ball today. It made a huge difference, someone like Twal who has been bog ordinary in 2022 was steaming onto the footy from 10 m and running into gaps.

Hastings in particular was doing a great job committing the defence and then positioning his forwards, particularly with passes cut to the inside. I personally HATE the banal "turn back on the inside" play that Brooks uses very often (many halves do it), because it's so predictable and you are asking the forward to run back into the oncoming defence. But Jacko was running out then passing in (if the gap appeared), then running back in and passing out. It had the effect of setting the defence before the run.

This footage says it all really. The bench is up including crutches Simpkin & wonky knee Mamolo. Then when the kick is successful they all rush out onto the field including wonky knee Mamolo. Then, exiting Kelma and uncertain future Garner support emotional Hastings. In other words, they were brothers in arms last night and that's the science that was in play. I keep watching the highlights over and over again. From the Lucy drive to score, the Laurie Gutho tackle, to Nofos tries and barnstorming Twal. That was a win for the ages. The Battle from Hastings! Tigers! Tigers! Tigers!

Champion @LeichhardtTiger - this post is so good.
It deserves to be on-repeat, here and in the dressing room!

It’s amazing what a difference effort and desire from the whole team can make. Confidence and belief builds with positive leadership as well. I just hope our lads can build on this from here.

Looking at the game realistically from the point of view of what’s next, we can certainly improve on a number of areas. In A, there are still too many wasted tackles where the receiver has absolutely no runners wanting the ball and still not enough players in motion off the ball or in support. I think we still play way slower than the top teams- Mahoney was quick out of dh on occasions that caused us trouble with our middle too slow at marker or to get set behind the ruck.
We have a problem at the back with the ball in the air that needs fixing. Our centres are very average and hopefully that will improve with the return of injured players. Discipline and dumb errors are a problem that also have to be fixed if we are to stay in games against the better sides.

I think after a performance like that you can see what Madge is actually talking about in his press conferences and you can see why he actually has confidence in this team I just hope they can back it up week after week

We need to improve our discipline, too many set restarts given. I would like to see faster play the balls and moving up faster in defence as Parramatta seemed to make a lot of easy metres.
Finally I would like to see some spiral kicks put in, too many direct kicks to players.

Hopefully Douehi can bring his kicks back
