A call out to the students of the game...

Better engagement from dummy half. Simpkin had the forwards running onto the ball at speed. Quick service to the halves. Last week with Liddle he was so slow and offered nothing. Sometimes he would spin around and give the ball to a flat-footed forward.

Hastings used Luciano and Kelma at the front of a block play quite often. These guys continuously got us quick plays of the ball.

Our goal line defence has been decent all year, so I'm not surprised we were able to deny them as often as we did.
Simpkin was a big plus. For the first time this year we had clean ball coming from dummy half and his running game was holding up the markers. Clean ball plus holding markers gives the halves more time and suddenly our attack works.

Madge spoke before the game about the focus on attack during the week and changing the lines players run. Our shape was much improved and we were slightly deeper which gave our halves more space to operate in.

Simpkin did a fantastic job of getting the forwards over the advantage line and both of our halves took the short option which kept the Parramatta defence guessing and paid off for us with a try. I also liked the way the halves linked and really liked Brooks swinging to different sides of the field.

Another big thing from yesterday was that over the last few years that Madge had been here there are always 1 or 2 games a season where we go for it, against quality opposition, you know those games against Souths, Penrith, Melbourne and Easts and everyone of those was a defeat.

So Madge tried to build a season on a big win and we couldn't make a start.

Well yesterday against the odds to pull a win off like that with seconds to go which often didn't even occur during our better years, well that's something we may be able to build on.

That’s what made it so amazing when we actually won there had been so many of them games when the players have tried there absolute hearts out for no reward but this time they finally got it
