One of the things evident about this competition is how close the teams are.

As much as I'm enjoying Parramatta being last, a fair minded spectator would understand they're not playing as badly as their position suggests. Same for all the bottom teams and you only need to be 5% off you game to suffer a loss to them. Cite Tigers v Eels, Knights, Titans and Raiders - we needed to turn up at 100% and didn't.

It's been a very difficult competition to tip - anyone can beat anyone on their day.

We've demonstrated that against the Roosters, Melbourne, Saints and Souths. They didn't play badly against us, they were just slightly off their game and we got them - kudos to us.

This is 100%.
It's an even competition the only difference between top sides and bottom is a little consistency over 80 and week to week.
I'm shattered really,season over.
But the more I think about it those 5 Hiss took the edge off our game backing up 6 day later against a side who played well.
We either needed fame today of dogs to be at off. Not getting many breaks.

I was going to say this as well.

The teams are all close, and if you have a bad week, anyone can get you. Tigers 2018 have unfortunately not been able to maintain a standard that, at times, can beat anyone and can beat them more than once (i.e. not an "ambush" game).

The top teams are not so far in front this year. As an aside, Souths and Storm have lost a total 10 matches this year combined, and 3 of those were to us. How weird.

Parra have gotten very close to a lot of teams, as have Canberra. Some teams have been belted but it's not the same suspects every round. Titans beat Warriors this evening, Warriors who need a win to stave off any last threat from 9th spot, Warriors who have been very very good at times this year, but comfortably handled by the Titans, who in other weeks have been hopeless.

Inclined to agree. A big performance one week cant always be replicated the week after, and your opposition may be up for it the week your a bit flat.
Maintaining intensity in a physically challenging competition like this one is easier said than done, and there are definitely no easy beats in this competition.

The parts of our loss to Bulldogs that I stayed awake for I thought our worse crime was Brooks unsuccessful grubber kicks near the line - so many times they were useless. If they were different we could have won.

Better than the one that Farah put dead giving up a 7 tackle set…with B Moz then running 40m upfield and the Dogs scored..probably napping at that time

Yes it wasn't good, however you should be able to defend a 7 tackle set just like a 6 tackle set. Defense was poor.

Why are Brooks kicks so predictable as to where they will head?

Glad you asked.
Watch the two games beforehand and you will notice the formation of the left hand side players when Brooks kicks.
If the players are formed in a straight line it’s obvious to the defending team that a kick is on as there is no alternative.
If we are set at a 45 degree angle we’ll the kick may come to as surprise but the chasers will be too far back to make it successful.
The structure of the line and in effect the chase has a massive bearing on the kicking.
This is the first game Brooks has had an off in goal kicking game this year.
When our repeat sets are successful we kick usually on the 4th and we have our side set up with a number of options, some flat at the line, some 45, fullback feigning to sweep around.
Let’s give Dean pay and the Dogs Defence some credit for actually putting pressure on that play.
Also people are forgetting that we had a couple of repeat sets gained in the first 20mins or so but failed to capitalise. Our first attacking set went from one side of the field to the other finishing with a cut out pass from Benji that the defence just eat up. We mananged another repeat set but just died with it in the end. We were flat and I think Brooks wasn’t short of trying, we had Garner go to the line off short balls on the right testing out Lachlan Lewis.
I think the common link in the dip in the games is the backrows experience.
I know we were a little better in that area last week, but we didn’t kick too many attacking kicks until the second half of that game.
The start of the Souths game the focus was on defence and shutting down all the Souths time and options. We started with Aloiai in that first half along side Brooks which probably gave him more confidence than being partnered with Chee Kam as he was this week.
In this game I’m most critical of Cleary and his in game attacking structures.
I’ve noticed this year that Cleary does a great job of researching a sides style and preparing the team with a contrasting style to combat that. It has been successful for most of our wins this year.
What is lacking though is the adaptation from that style in game.
We struggled against the Raiders to capitalise on having 13v12 for a 10 minute period. We just continued on with the game plan when we really should got a message out to the players to attack in a channel and drag the defence across to one side to open up the other side. Instead we continued to try and move the forwards around the middle of the field as that was obviously where we had the most opportunity with Lawrence strolling over going through the middle.
It was obvious our game plan wasn’t going to trouble the dogs and needed an in game adjustment. Maybe that should be on the team to identify but I feel the way we’ve approached each game is very structured in terms of not going away from the game plan and the individual roles.
How I see it anyway.

Yes its a close competition and if you are a little bit off you get beat BUT if you want to be a finals team youve just got to find a way to win and beat teams like the Bulldogs.

Probably Brooks worst game of the year.

Just as control of the team that was supposed to be his has again been taken away from him.

Rubbish .. he had control and was hopeless.

I can't be bothered looking for that stats , but I wonder how much % of the ball Brooks got before Robbie came back …...

But it's not just quantity of ball , the quality of ball in just as important

Ohh give it a rest, youve done nothing but look for angles to criticise Robbie Farah since he has come back.

Hopefully you were man enough to hand your membership back.

So I gave him MOTM and 3 points in a game , 2 points in the other game and have said how well he has played in 2 of his first 3 games ( he wasn't great on Friday but who was )

And I'm looking for angles

As another forum member said to you , play the subject , not the man

Not everyone is going to agree with you , get over it and stop being an immature child

No I didn't send my membership back , my Mrs reminded it was a Xmas present from her and the kids , sort of forgot that and admitted that I hadn't sent it back  on the Forum when replying to a comment Hobbo made

Yeah, okay. He has received praise left, right and center, from all and sundry with anything to do with the game throughout the season for his great play, but that can't be the case because you think otherwise. :unamused:
