A Positive Approach To This Season

This season has probably had more ups than downs if you really think about it. The on-field results are disappointing, but the long term goals are exciting.

We've seen the breakdown of "the boys club," a CEO moved on and a club legend released. Many have asked for change and a clean out for a long time. The Sheens/Marshall era has ended and a new beginning has started.

Mick Potter has done a fantastic job with what he inherited and can only get better. A no BS approach is exactly what we needed. Grant Mayer also seems to have taken the job on well. Did we have a chance this year? Probably not. Has the club taken steps to correct this in the future? Yes. This is a huge positive compared to previous seasons. The club is hitting the issues hard, it may upset a few people in the short term eg. Benji leaving. But better for the club as a whole in the long run.

The injury crisis has actually been a blessing in disguise in my opinion. Would we have seen the rise of players like Sue, Buchanan, Nofoaluma, Simona, Ava, etc.?
Maybe, maybe not. We may have kept some of our underperforming players like Ayshford, Pettybourne, even Marshall purely because these young players were untested. Before this year did anyone really think Simona would have played this well in First Grade?

We've extended some of our top young talent in Brooks, Moses, Luani, Lovett and Brown. Signed some excellent young props in Gavet, Taupau and brought in players with experience like Richards and Halatau (who importantly are still playing well).

So all in all, it may end up being a disappointing season or two results-wise. But there's light at the end of the tunnel and were building again to something special.

Just drink a bit more this season

Mick Potter will change how we play next year. With Marshall gone it will be Potters big chance to make the team play how he wants. More Manly like was his quote on Tripple M.

Blair has found his position as a prop and he will improve further with more experience, so he is not a waste anymore.
He will be a good combination with Woodsy and Galloway with Buchanan and another young prop in support.

What a great post! Totally agree with all said. As bad as things have gone, I have been more excited about each game this year then I have in the last few years. I think this has a lot to do with all that you mention. The Tigers were stale and big changes were required and we got them all in one year, how can you not be excited about the future! And if Siro, Nofo & Tim are a sign of things to come then hold on, because we are entering an era us Tig die hards are not use to: consistent winning! Can't wait for next week and next year!
