A taste of things to come

Towards the back end of the season at a post game interview, Sheens brought up how Ellis had been moved into the front row and that it "was a taste of things to come." Now I may be reading too much into the comment, but what did others take from that? Could Ellis be playing front year next year?

Quite possibly yes. Put it this way, Ellis has more chance of playing front row at the Tigers than Blair does.

I honestly feel that Woods played good enough this season to be a serious contender for the vacant starting prop position - and in my eyes is ahead of Blair and Ellis to get it.

When Gibbs was injured late in the season, Woods was promoted to the starting side. He's also earned a spot in the Aus. Train On Squad. To earn that from some of the other props that AUS has to offer is a big task. Even bigger for a rookie.

Whilst Sheens did say it was "A taste of things to come" (referring Ellis), I think he may have meant that Ellis will be required to play like a front rower at times throughout the game, as would Blair I'ld imagine, but not as a prop.

In my eyes our front row rotation next year should be Galloway and Woods starting with Bell and Groat on the interchange, with our second rowers being used in the middle 3rd of the park taking some 'front rower-like' hit ups.

I'm sure whatever happens though, Sheens has a plan and a very good one at that.

Galloway Farah Ellis
Fulton Blair
Heighington

Woods
Groat
Murdoch-Masila
Moors (Looks like he has moved on)
Schirnack A.
Schirnack J.
Roqica
Bell

So this looks like the forwards (So Far) for 2012
I have not included Simon Dwyer at this stage.

I also heard Sheens make that comment but why wouldn't he just slot Woods into starting prop, as 91 has said, no need to push Ellis up unless Sheens isn't going to play Bell at prop at the start of the season.

Iwould start with Woods & Galloway & have Groat & Bell come off the bench, i think this is the way to go especially the way Woods & Groat improved last year.

I've said before, I believe next year Ellis will wear the #13 jumper, play up the middle third like an extra prop much like Toddy did for us when he was our lock.

8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Blair
12\. ?????
13\. Ellis

I reckon it will be

Galloway & Woods starting

Groat will be on the bench. I figure that Bell and BMM will fight for a spot on the bench, If BMM gets a crack, Ellis might spend some time in the front row

I think Ellis may start at front row simply so we can fit Blair, Fulton and Heighington into the starting line up. For mine Fulton is an 80 minute player and his defence is so good he must be on the field. Blair is also an 80 minute player.

For mine if Ellis starts in the second row Heighington will be starting on the bench. I could see a starting pack of :

Galloway
Farah
Ellis
Fulton
Blair
Heighingtion

with the bench being:
Utility back
Woods
Bell/Groat/Begonvich
Dwyer (we can hope)/BMM/other back rower

The above starting line up is a strong pack and should do well.
