A team going no where

There is players in our Club that have been in our system for many years e.g Teddy , Nofo , Simona , Moses , Brooks , Sue , Sironen , Woods . For me Teddy , Woods , Sue and maybe Simona have improved over the years .
There is no doubt in my mind that the Club has fed the fans in believing in all this Potential crap just to simply cover up our Salary Cap mess and justify why we haven't had a Marquee signing since Gareth Ellis.

Our Club need to cut there losses and start getting rid of a heap of players once we get our finances in order , the halves would be the 1st i let go…..for every Try they create ? they let in 2 Tries they need the rest of this year in State Cup and get there game in order , 1st Grade is just not there level at the present time .
Anyway the Season is how i expected it to be so my emotions are intact , the only problem is my care factor is quickly diminishing.

Adam Blair and Lote Tuquri were marquee signings that came after Ellis.

Yeah true although Lote was a bit of risk signing initially as he was in Union for so long….but he worked out well and was a great winger for us.
Back in 2010 and 11 we attracted these kind of players cause we were a good team, whereas now only a player getting paid massive overs would only consider coming to our Club.

Elijah Taylor Tim Grant and Matt Ballin are examples of astute recruitment…We need more of these types rather than paying massive overs for players eg Manly with Taupau Walker DCE and Myles...

They went massive in the player market cattle wise hasn't helped them much...

I agree with you. The problem is that I think we've recruited reasonably well this season, I'm not sold on Ballin when we have Robbie under contract but apart from that we've done well.

Unfortunately it is a team going somewhere - Backwards.

The golden generation of Juniors that we have pinned our hopes on now appear to be demoralised, beaten and playing well below any promise they have shown previously.
How can guys like Brooks and Nofo show so much potential and ability in their first proper year in NRL back in 2014 and now 2 years down the track look so woefully incompetent?

Why the regression?

Well thankfully now the majority of people can see that Taylor is not up to the job of being able to develop our players.
We were told the defence would improve- it hasn't
We were told last year we would finish with more wins than losses- they didn't
We were told at the end of this year we would be one of the better teams- looking likely or not?
We were told the young halves would get better under his guidance - No

Promises that sound like a dodgy politician on the campaign trail. Finally the excuses have worn thin and the results speak for themselves.

The board have to realise they bought a lemon and its time to cut the losses. It looks bad on them but so be it, they have to man up and admit they got it wrong. Clean out the coach and his assistants asap, the damage has been done do not let it continue getting worse.

The new coaching staff will have to come in and see what they can salvage, lets hope there is enough to work with that can give us a glimmer of hope for progression next year.

Yeah I agree they were astute signings, but Ballin was just a strategic signing to try and oust Farah, if Manly are paying at least 80% of his Salary? Then I'm more than happy to have him at the club.

I was referring to Representative X Factor type signings like Foran and Jennings were to Parra, the signings we have made are more players looking for an opportunity to play 1st Grade on a consistent level.
Tim Grant is now starting as apose to coming of the bench for the Rabbitohs, Elijah Taylor is now starting as apose to State Cup, Ballin moved on as he would of had limited 1st Grade opportunities with Manly.
So in actual fact we signed players that other Clubs didn't want, But I'm more than happy to have them as I rate all 3 of them…..Ballin is coming to the end though.

😱pen_mouth: 😱pen_mouth: I don't think using Parra as an example of good recruitment in the current climate…I guess we could go down that path...Of book spreadsheet and all...

Surely if we lose to the Knights things will change?

Things should have changed after the raiders massacre, it didn't and here we are a month later and nothing has changed, we are coming off another hiding where we were inept and not interested.
Taylor should have been sacked straight after the raiders game and we would be a month in to our rebuild.

Forget anything changing in the team environment until wests take control and hopefully pump cash into the joint.
It's a dud team we have , there's nothing in the top 25 that will change that.

JT will never be sacked by the board due to the fact that it would reflect poorly
on them that the club is in disarray, regardless of how rubbish the team is performing under his guidance.

It is easy to start a thread like this after the weekend but I am getting the impression things are heading in the right direction..players are being moved on as we have seen over the last couple of weeks and I think there will be more in the not to distant future .It was always going to take a couple of seasons to wright the ship from the debacle that was laid on by the previous morons…
Do not get me wrong I am not to happy ATM myself but at least there seems to be movement in the right direction ,there seems at least a plan moving forward so we will just have to be patient I do believe good times are ahead.
