Not sure how much truth was in it, but I read a post that was something about them (Woods and Teddy) being unable to confirm or announce their moves to Bulldogs and Roosters before those clubs cleared space for them by indicating who was leaving their clubs - something to do with cap requirements. If this is true, then this delay seems to make more sense, and both Woods and Teddy are well gone but just waiting until they can formally announce it. I think we will hear sooner rather than later from Woods that he has signed with the Dogs now that the Reynolds news has been released.
As for Teddy, I really hope I'm wrong, I would love to see him stay. The rumour on TMM also gave me hope too as it seemed like one of our young guns was returning and maybe loyalty wasn't dead after all.
This makes way more sense to me than anything I have read on the subject over the past few weeks. It's easy for everyone to blame the players over their apparent indecision and to make up stories that these guys are just screwing the club by holding on blah, blah when in reality there is probably a lot more going on behind the scenes, which none of us are privy to, that has prevented both Woods & Tedesco from saying anything outright to the media, the club, the fans or whoever. I really don't think that either of these guys would want to 'harm' the Tigers in any way, they just want what is best for theirs and their families future.
And in all honesty, I think the fact that they are being mercilessly pressured by everyone to make a decision either way, so early in their final contracted year, is just plain wrong, but that's another whole issue for another time.
I really think it's time for us to just let it go - all the booing and griping and speculation about motives and who's doing what and who said what is just wasted energy! Energy that could be spent on supporting and cheering the team (the whole team) throughout the rest of the season because our season is far from over. Cleary has come in and the boys are immediately playing better and smarter. And if anything, this whole fiasco being continuously played out in public has helped the team bond together more - they have reacted in a positive way and they are now finally playing for each other as a team.
Who knows what could come out of this for the rest of this season - a finals berth, a premiership - wouldn't that be a great story. I know I'm probably dreaming, but stranger things have happened in sport - hardship & turmoil can sometimes be great motivators, especially if you have the right people in place behind the revival.
Woods, Tedesco and hopefully Moses will still be playing with us for the rest of the season. Why can't we just be mature enough to support them, along with the rest of the team. The booing may not have affected Woods & Tedesco, but if it continues throughout the year, it may well affect some of the younger guys in the squad and why the hell would we want to do that? Do we want them to win or what? If they all end up staying, then fantastic, but if one or more of them end up leaving next season, then why not at least try to send them out as winners.
