Aaron Woods named as Wests Tigers Captain..

Congrats to Woodsy, very well deserved and helps us in retaining his services.
Lawrence would of also done a fine job, his a true Professional the manner he represents himself.

Congrats on the appointment however i hope it doesn't overwhelm him. He seems more a soldier than a general.

Yeah I think agree Stryker

But I'm also not sure if there is a better option

I'd like to think whoever you give the captaincy to will improve all round as a footballer and would make them more accountable in a leadership role

I really focussed on Woods at the Brisbane game in 2014 and he would at times take 3-4 tackles to get back to take a hit up and that was early in the game

Far as I'm concerned that's not someone being accountable

Unfortunately this will not sit well with him he has not got the personality for the
Job …time to clean yourself up get rid of the ridiculous hair and please do not wear that girly plastic head band oh dear .Not my choice but with the circus that is this club not unexpected ..good luck and with Farah as your mentor easy as !

Pinhead alert!!!

Yet more abuse from magpiecol when he doesn't agree with a comment. How boringly predictable.

But, snake, I also am not sure Woods is the guy I would have chosen. But, if the © next to his name makes him think more and rids him of his regular, selfish, stupid penalties, then we're in front already.

Personally I don't like the decision. I reckon it should have gone to Tedesco. Moses might make a good captain or even Brooks but both may not make it as players. Lawrence and Halatau are good choices as well but again they may be in and out of the top grade.

I'm not sure either that it is the right decision.

Really good player but a bit of a clown that doesn't seem to take things all that seriously.
Maybe he does - just doesn't show that he does. Can't see any referees taking him seriously.

I would think Teddy has a lot on his plate for the next few years, Moses still at least 5 years away from a captains role.

It should have gone to Rowdy in my opinion, but obviously not to be.

We'll have to wait and see how this works out. Really well hopefully.

Its not like he is the cricket captain making bowling changes and setting field.

Toss a coin and then go out and make 200 metres.

Lead from the front.

Might not have eben my choice but i don' think its a huge issue.

Correct me if I am wrong but I am fairly sure Farah was given the captaincy to sweeten the deal with us when he almost signed with the Titans.

Being captain of the Wests Tigers in season 2016 will just about be the toughest gig a player can have in the NRL.

As captain he will be required to;
Man-manage relationships that have been strained over the previous few months being careful not to take sides and escalate any feuds.
Work towards galvanising a team that struggles with with both complacency and consistency.
Work with a coach and a board who are trying to change our culture.
Deal with officials who possess preconceptions on how we play and referee the game accordingly.
Inspire a young side who at times will need their bellies rubbed and at other times need their arses kicked.
Keep ego's in check and ensure game plans are being followed.
Be able to read how the game is playing out and communicate this to the training staff in real time.
Deal with a media contingent who are only concerned with our off field issues
Understand the direction this club is taking and communicate it effectively in what I would imagine will be a series of television commitments on programmes like the footy show, NRL on fox etc…
Deal with the internal factions within the club.
Deal with his personal representative commitments
Deal with upset fans both officially and publically
Deal with opposition players on the field who will be trying to use his position against him to put him off his game
Attend official functions with the NRL to help promote the game etc...
Be accountable for how the team plays each week and attend the post match conferences where he will be attacked on occasion

....its a lot more involved than just flipping a coin and worrying about his stats each week. I just hope he can handle the scrutiny and the extra load whilst he is still learning the game himself.

Can't believe people having a whinge about Woodsy's appointment as C. For Christ's sake it is not like we had a huge amount of capable blokes to choose from.
Tedesco doesn't have enough experience to be captain yet and he still seems like a kid among men at this stage.
Moses?? Geez, he is at least 4-5 seasons off being captain material-not to mention the fact that he just needs to focus on having more than 6 good games per season.
Halatau- will be retiring after 2016 season you would think, no good having a captain for 1 season.
Lawrence-would have been the best option other than Woods but wouldn't have too many years left in him. Plus he might find himself playing off the bench if some of our supposed up and coming forwards show some form.
We have had enough uncertainty and stop-gap crap in our club to last a lifetime, at least they have looked to the future this time.
All the best Woodsy, there is no doubt that he is popular with his teammates and that counts for a lot. He will do a good job IMO….just wish he would lose the Mary-Kate and Ashley headband....that thing is freakin embarrassing.

Where's magpiecol when you expect him? All this support for the post by snake that questioned the decision to make Woods the ©? Only to be ridiculed by magpiecol for his opinion?

Such courage, magpiecol.

Further more, Woods has seemed confident and well spoken in the press releases and media conferences.

I think it's a good choice. He'll be no worse than James Graham, can the refs even understand him?
Woods is an old school footballer and deserves the (C)

He's almost accomplished everything…
Played for his state and won a state of origin, represented his country, now all he needs is a PREMIERSHIP RING!

I think this will be good for the club and Aaron
He loves the Tigers , he plays top level football
He has good solid experience around him in
Dean , Chris , Robbie ,Matt Balin , and co
He has the luxury of all the new guys wanting to play top grade
Rankin, Edwards , queensland cup brothers , and a few SMOKIES for spots
A team on the bottom ,ready to raise its massive bold ,brutal tiger spirit
A team that WILL upset all year , that's right upset all year and go into the finals
Let's just take a breath enjoy the good news and sweat it out until we win the 9's
Then come into the comp in 2016 and just go game by game piss all the people who say we can't win and just slip into the 8 then , well who knows but I say we will be in the 8 , and still go even further
I know shoot me down, BUT I have my wish list already made for 2016 and that includes my tigers
